"The staff is friendly, and the establishment is clean and well-maintained. The food is delicious and even includes options for vegans! They offer a fantastic selection of local, non-commercial craft beers, including an organic lager (Samuel Smith). This pub fosters a social atmosphere, being a cell phone-free zone with free board games available. The pub honors General George Smith Patton (1885-1945), who once visited, and maintains a year-round subscription for a floral arrangement on the table where he sat. It would be an even more worthwhile visit if it were in a different location.".
What Sarah Marsh doesn't like about Whipping Stocks:
Lovely garden, very well priced drinks. Unfortunately the food we ordered still hadn't appeared after an hour so we had to leave without eating having paid up front. Very disappointed in the place View all feedback.
Great value, homemade food, not just from a microwave bag as so many pubs in the opposite. the staff is also beautiful. only cash and we had to book to get a place in the beer garden, as we had a dog with us.
No food on Monday and no payment by card below 20 pounds misses the 5 the star. It's managed by a family and are very nice to talk. The food is something I am yet to try but was recommended by many that is good. The beer served is inexpensive compared to the other restaurant around Knustford.
Excellent food and good beer at sensible prices and it's worth going just to see the pub interior.
(Forgive the late review) We went here for a lovely meal on the 25th September 2020 and we couldn’t fault it. Staff were lovely, food was great, and we were treated to a nice bit of history about the place by a gentleman that I think was the landlord. Lovely experience and we’ll be happy to go back once restrictions have eased .
Our walking club visited here after our walk...what a lovely welcome and pub..Helen really looked after us and the food was lovely..As we were a large group Helen set out expectations from the start as all food is freshly prepared...so we drank more beer!!
