Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen - Knoxville
Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen
Description
Diners at this restaurant often express disappointment regarding its limited vegan options. Despite being a scratch kitchen, the menu predominantly features meat and dairy, making it challenging for plant-based eaters to find suitable meals. Many reported that inquiries about vegan dishes revealed a lack of flexibility, with most vegetables prepared with animal products. As a result, patrons have settled for simple salads or baked potatoes, leaving them unsatisfied with their experience. Given this feedback, the restaurant's designation as a vegan-friendly option appears questionable, leading to frustration among those seeking diverse, inclusive dining choices.

When I inquired about vegan options, the waiter, who was also vegan, jokingly told me that nothing could be veganized on the menu. Every dessert contained butter. I ended up with a simple salad, rice, and broccoli for $10, which was not even a complete meal.
I recently dined at this restaurant, hoping that as a "craft kitchen," they would have plenty of vegan options. Unfortunately, after inquiring about vegan options, a manager apologized and explained that there were very limited choices available. Most of the entrees and sides contained animal products such as meat, animal broth, and butter. In the end, I settled for a plain baked potato with salsa and a simple salad without any cheese or croutons. I don't believe this restaurant should be classified as a vegan-friendly option on Happy Cow. It was quite disappointing.
The waiter at the restaurant mocked me for being a vegan when I inquired about vegan options. He claimed that nothing on the menu could be made vegan as all the vegetable dishes were made with butter. I ended up settling for a simple plate of lettuce, rice, and broccoli, which did not constitute a full meal. I was charged $10 for this unsatisfying experience.
