Ainoya is a long-standing favorite for Japanese cuisine in Kirribilli, offering delicious and fresh food with a menu that caters to all tastes. The restaurant, run by a family, may lack high-end decor but makes up for it with high-quality meals. Highlights include the Kingfish carpaccio, beef tataki, broiled scallops, and aburi sushi. The service is friendly and professional, with a good wine and sake list available. It's recommended to make a reservation, especially on weekends, as the restaurant is quite popular. Overall, Ainoya offers good value for honest and tasty Japanese dishes, making it a great choice for a meal out with friends or family.

Was Howell Effertz at Ainoya a mag?
This has been our family's first choice for Japanese for years now. I have travelled the world to great sushi destinations and Ainoya can hold its own for freshness, taste and service. Great as a couple and even better with friends or family. Order lots of entrés to share and get a main for yourself. Highlights are the Kingfish carpaccio, beef tataki, broiled scallops. What Vance Monahan dislikes about Ainoya:
On the day we visited, this place was good, no more, no less. The food was actually great, but there was a lack of energy that evening. A little more attentiveness next time, please. View all feedback.

• The restaurant is fairly easy to locate as it's near the Woolworth Metro. Just walk downhill, take a turn at a street, and you'll find it. • I highly recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends. Early weekdays tend to be less crowded. • Inside, there are plenty of tables that fill up quickly. They're arranged with wall panels as dividers, providing a decent amount of space for each group. • The service is efficient, and you won’t have to wait long for your food. • The portion sizes are appropriate. • Personally, I found the food to be quite average. While there are some unique dishes that caught my attention, overall it was rather mediocre. My favorite dish was the Grilled Duck, which came with a delicious sauce. • I think the prices are a bit on the higher side for my taste. However, considering the location, they can be deemed reasonable.

This charming little Japanese restaurant offers a menu with some modern twists. It features a variety of sashimi but has limited options for main dishes, with only one noodle dish available. It's a great spot for those who love raw fish. However, to feel fully satisfied, you might want to order a combination of appetizers along with some sashimi or sushi in addition to a main course. The service was excellent and very quick, and the food was delicious. Portion sizes are quite reasonable.
