We went last night to shama restaurant in heckmondwike. from beginning to end it was a fantastic experience!. my man called and booked a table for 18.30 clock and the woman he spoke with was professional and courteous. we arrived and showed a table-waiting staff were friendly, polite and professional and very efficient. platz was spotless. we had for the beginning chicken pakoras and huhn tikka sizzler, for the main a huh bukari and tikka balti, garlic nan and chapatis. eating was absolutely spot on ingredients were top quality and exactly what we wanted. my man and I don't like paprika or fresh ball chilis and this request was checked by the manager and finished by the chef. the manager was very polite and friendly and offered us free coffee after our meal. that must be the best curry and eating that we have eaten in a long time – we will do the shama, we will be back!

We come here every time we visit our friends who live locally. We had poppadoms followed by a couple of slightly unusual chicken dishes with rice and naan bread. For drink we had lassi and other soft drinks. The food is super quality and not too expensive. Service is very friendly and attentive.

We arrived early on a Friday, so the restaurant was not very busy at first. I had my eye on one of the chef's specials, but the waiter informed us that it would take 45 minutes or more to prepare, even though the menu stated 25 minutes. We ended up ordering other dishes instead, including lamb mince and chicken, which were both very delicious. Our lemon rice and naan were also excellent. The jug of lassi we ordered was tasty, although it seems that most diners bring their own alcohol.

I ordered takeout from this restaurant, but some items were missing from my order. The sauce on my dish was tasteless and watery. I specifically asked for no peppers in one of the dishes, but it came with peppers anyways. When I called to inquire about the missing items, they told me to come back and they would have them ready, but they did not offer to deliver them to us. We used to dine in regularly at this restaurant, but after this disappointing experience and their unhelpful attitude, we have decided never to return. We ended up cooking the rice ourselves and warming up some wraps. Overall, it was a very disappointing meal.
