Restaurant Only It was AMAZEBALLS! Special occasion, my birthday, my bf contacted Joe and set it all up. The food was exquisite. 1. A complimentary amuse buche with a pre dinner cocktail, and chatting with guests, in the foyer gave a very homey feel and set the feeling for the evening. 2. The breads with dinner were a nice selection that were wonderfully fresh, however the blue cheese and apple muffin was an evening standout. The crispy outside highlighted the softness of the inside. And while the flavors mentioned may seem strong here they were delicate and complimentary. 3. The plating of the beets amongst delicate pearls of creamy goodness and pansy petals looked like a fairy meal. 4. The pork belly just melts in the mouth in the best way. 5. The gnocchi stole the show from the halibut. It was creamy with out being squishy and the pan fry really made it cohesive. 6. The local lamb was succulent and the tortellini was so good I was wishing for more. 7. For the desserts I was so pleased with Joe's wine pairing recommendations. It made all the difference for enjoying the cheese and souffle. I'm really looking forward to having my wine store back home order what we enjoyed. Joe and Sarah were just so hospitable and personable. We spent quite a bit of time chatting. I can wait to visit Scotland again and stay at their place!
This was a lovely place to stay. The building was beautiful and full of so many interesting oranemts, art and furniture. Our room as spotless and we were provided with everything you could imagine needing. Breakfast was soo good, although I opted for a cooked breakfast, there were loads of cereal, fresh fruit salad and other bits. We were given a selection of freshly baked pastries and the freshly squeezed orange juice was perfect. Joe was a lovely and intriguing man with such a calm energy, someone I could have talked to for ages. I would certainly stay again. Vegetarian options: There were vegetarian options. Parking: There is in site parking
Joe really cares about good food so the menu reflects what is available and of good quality. He clearly has some excellent sources. All food is very well cooked and plated which means meals are a leisurely affair as each dish is given the attention it deserves. We knew the area well so knew where to go for good walks but apart from local Kingussie walks perhaps some more guidance on walks a little further afield would be a good ideas such as Glen Feshie (Achlean side much better), Loch an Eilein and Uath Lochans No haggis for breakfast but appreciate there is not the demand to justify including as part of a full Scottish breakfast Internet very good with Wifi at 35 mbs, good beds and bedroom
Fantastic place to stay! The food is amazing, and the service is excellent. It's a family-run establishment, and you can tell they genuinely care about their guests. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel Highlights: Luxury.
