Are you searching for a fantastic lunch under $10? Wow! We enjoyed a delicious Hamburg Basket and a Fried Steak Finger Basket with a sprinkle of pepper. Everything was tasty, and the portion sizes were excellent for the price, along with friendly staff. The only downside was the polystyrene cup, especially since I just picked up a lot of trash on Padre Island. Other than that, it was a great experience! View all feedback.
What Antonia M doesn't like about Big House Barbecue:
I had hoped this place would be an improvement over the other Big House, but unfortunately, it was just as disappointing. The service was poor, and the food was dry, especially considering the high prices. I truly feel like I wasted my money. View all feedback.
Food was dry and had no flavor. Many of the menu items were crossed out and unavailable. Basically it's just sandwiches now. Toilets had no toilet paper. Service was slow. Atmosphere is not appealing.
Well what can I say I expected more for the name but not quite...the food 3 meat plate (brisket, pork ribs, sausage) was kind of dry, I know they can do better than this maybe it was just the batch. The appetizers were better...the decor was not bad and the location is easy to find. Our waiter Jacob was just awesome, a well mannered young man with a bright future, all in all I will probably give it another try but this time try there big stuffed potatoes...
Listen you have to try everything for yourself, the reviews give some insight. We are here in a track trip from VA. So Texas BBQ to us is like WOAH but the service here was fantastic our waiter was so nice he accommodated us with anything we needed. The pickles were AMAZING. We all got the 3 meat platter. Ribs, brisket, and sausage. The sausage was . Everything was good. Brisket was a bit dry and the ribs were good too. I got potato salad it wasn't good very bland. Place has potential.
Very nice place, friendly staff and locals. Close to the hotel I was staying at and I'm ever back this way I will stop in again! Beer cold as the X's heart!
We got here right before closing time, but they so graciously kept it open and fired the kitchen back up for us. Even though they had run out of ribs (what we had been craving for hours and what every other barbecue house failed to have), they still had so many delicious options open. The hostess was so sweet and accommodating to us and made sure we were well taken care of even though we would be going into after hours. Our server, Sophie, was so incredibly sweet and didn't rush us at all, despite the fact that we would be making her stay late. Everyone was so unbelievably kind and made us feel so welcome after such a long car ride. It was the perfect stop to stretch our legs, see new faces, and take a break. When Sophie was getting our drink orders, we mentioned lemon slices for our waters, and she came back with the waters, then a little bit after again with an apology for the wait and an explanation. She had actually cut a bunch of lemons and limes herself for us!! We were blown away by the care and love that was shown to a bunch of the seemingly worst type of customers. We got the shrimp cocktail, which was far beyond our expectations. Even though there was a large goblet of cocktail sauce that oversized the amount of sweet jumbo shrimp, everything was so fresh and the cocktail sauce really shone with the chunks of fresh avocado. It was the perfect starter for tired travelers in need of some freshness. For our entrees, we racked up a total of the steak and quail, the chicken tater, the chicken fried chicken, and an order of chips and salsa. My grandmother (a 4 foot something stick thin Asian woman) quickly scarfed down the quail and the baked potato she got as a side. The chicken tater was served with an ample amount of toppings and the chicken was deliciously grilled. The chicken fried chicken was juicy and smothered with gravy, and the grilled veggies were perfection. Overall, the food was a feast for tired travelers in need of nourishment! Honestly, I would have to give the food at the very most a 4/5, but what stood out to me wasn't the quality of the food but the quality of the establishment overall. The service was the best service I could have ever expected. Everyone was not only polite but also so loving and welcoming!! I cannot stress how much they impressed my whole family when they not only opened their doors to us five minutes before closing time but didn't once make us feel like we were unwelcome or wasting their time. The giant TVs plastered all along the wall playing various sports games and weather channels allowed us to be entertained when waiting for the food, and the establishment was so adorably decorated and furnished. I will definitely be coming back whenever I drive back this way, and I definitely recommend you try it out!!
