Overall, the restaurant offers a mix of traditional and modern dishes, with standout items such as the pears and waves dessert and perfectly cooked steak. Lunch specials at Jones & Co well worth the try, and we sat in the most comfortable chairs. Not all chairs in Jones & Co are that comfortable, but we were lucky. Food was fresh and all enjoyed the meals. Caesar salad could have had anchovies as an option - and more generous croutons - which would have made it perfect. One criticism is the choice and volume of 'background' music .... could do with some attention; as t... View all feedback.
What Sidney Gorczany dislikes about Jones & Co:
I had dinner with 2 friends and between us we had the gnocchi, duck (entree) and the risotto. The gnocchi was quite good. The duck was dry and the noodles were cold. I had the rissotto which had a lovely flavour but was spoilt by the enoki mushrooms which were stringy and crunchy; not the right match for a creamy risotto and a bit overpriced at $30. We were really looking forward to our dinner but left feeling very u... View all feedback.
This recently rebadged café with a fabulous position continues to struggle. My husband and I both opted to have the lunchtime special $22 per head for a selected menu and a drink from the bar or a coffee. My husband had a lamb salad, and was reasonably satisfied with that. I opted for a haloumi salad, and asked if it could be made GF. Was assured that yes, absolutely, so ordered that. When our meals first arrived, I looked at my plate and asked the waitress what the grain was that was replacing the farro (composed of grains of certain wheat species, so definitely containing gluten). I was brightly informed that it was barley. "Does the chef realise that barley also contains gluten?" I asked. The waitress took my plate away and came back assuring me that it was a mistake and they would bring GF shortly. When my plate returned, it contained no grains at all. Pretty hungry, I tucked in, only to be dismayed by my mouthful. The smoked tomatoes that were part of the dish were, for want of a better term, ghastly. I still ate most of the dish, as we had time constraints, and I didn't consider that anything about it was "off" - just awful. As we prepared to leave, I asked my husband to taste the tomatoes in case I was being overly picky - he actually spat out the bite he'd taken. When we gave our feedback to the waitress, she assured us that that's what the smoked tomatoes were supposed to taste like. The chef even sent back word that he'd also had a taste, and that's what the smoked tomatoes really are supposed to taste like.We are garden-to-plate consumers as a general rule, and make a lot of our own food from scratch, so to eat something so genuinely ghastly and be told that it's supposed to be like that was a true shock. My husband has subsequently smoked some tomatoes on our own barbeque at home, and they are absolutely delightful. We had tried this café in it's pre-renovation state (as Me
Had a great dinner with friends. WIt was very busy and our meals took about 45 mins, however the staff were great and were attentive to our drinks while we waited. It was worth the wait, as we all enjoyed our meals. I had the Ruben burger and it was fantastic. We were able to split our bill and pay separately, which is excellent for a restaurant to do. When we went to pay, our waiter kindly gave us all our first round of drinks on the house due to our longer than usual wait for our meals, this was offered without any prompting from us. It was a nice gesture and much appreciated that they acknowledged our wait even though we never made mention of it, staff should be highly commended for this, thanks. We are all from interstate and regularly travel to Canberra, so next time we are sure to come back!
We visited Canberra for weekend stay and really enjoyed the food in this restaurant . I loved the oyster bar with fresh oyster. It was fun to watch the chef opened the oyster and serve in front of you . He is really skilful and professional . Watching the chef to prepare the food is very enjoyable .Other dishes also lovely and fresh with good presentation Strongly recommend to all my friends
I was very impressed by Jones and Co. The soft shell crab was incredibly large and well-seasoned, and the oysters were great. The restaurant had an extensive wine list and the staff had good cocktail knowledge. The salmon was perfectly cooked, served with rice and spinach. The risotto was also delicious. I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning. While it may be on the expensive side, I believe it is worth it.
