I am a fan of Thai cuisine and I absolutely love eating at this restaurant. It is located in the city center of Kingston, which may be a bit tricky to find, but it is situated on the Old London Road. The chicken prawn green curry with rice, accompanied by either fried rice or sticky rice, is incredibly delicious. The other dishes they offer are also outstanding, with just the right balance of flavors. The desserts, e... View all feedback.
What beachcomber633 doesn't like about Thai On Thames:
The Thai on Thames failed to come up to our expectations. Last Friday the restaurant was very empty with only two other tables occupied. The background `jazz' musak was intrusive; very little atmosphere My wife's vegetarian Pad Thai had only 2 small pieces of broccoli. The pork in my Tod Kratiem Prig Thai was tough. Not our most enjoyable Friday night meal View all feedback.
This used to be a favourite, but sadly its rather gone down hill, since changing hands. Food was beautifully presented but not as good as it used to be. The floor had a presumably been flooded and was bulging up in the middle, sticky tables and dark as most of the lights were off. Meal was interrupt by takeaway couriers every couple of minutes. Shame as it was really good a few years ago. I doubt I'll be visiting again.
Visited with a friend on a Monday night. It was empty inside but the lady was really welcoming and assured us we were not keeping them open. The chef came out to discuss vegan options. My friend had lamb and it was so tender. Food was beautiful. If we are in the area we would definitely visit again. Thank you for a wonderful meal.
We had four different main dishes and they were all absolutely delicious. Really nice people and nice atmosphere.
We were in London for just a couple of days, and wanted to visit Kingston for family reasons. We found ourselves wandering around the area by the train station, and discovered London Road quite by accident. It was after 7 on a Saturday evening, and after a full day of siteseeing we were famished. I asked my 16 year old daughter to pick a place to eat. As we walked down the road, it felt deserted, and we were afraid we wouldn 't find anything. Then out of nowhere she says Oh look! Thai food! I love Thai food! (I will admit, this was a surprise to me. So we went in ... It was amazing. As other reviews have said, it is nice inside, but not overly fussy. The waitress was so sweet, and helpful. I got what I always get Thom Gai soup and my husband and daughter both got different versions of Pad Thai. Exquisite food.We were in the UK for 12 days, and somehow, this ended up being the very best meal we had on the whole trip.Highly recommend!
We ate here Saturday evening. Early indicators were not good the place was nearly empty but no matter the service and the food were exceptional from start ti finish. We have both ate Thai before so felt confident to order but when asked for guidance the waitress could not have been more helpful. The food was of the highest order. Each dish beautifully prepped and served. Lovely clean taste and just enough heat to make it a truly delicious experience. Attentive throughout but not fussy the waitress made sure we had enough drink and everything was ok. It may be a little way from the main food areas (which seem to closer to the River) please do try. It would sad to think this is being passed over for what appeared to be the single choice of Italian. Very happy for those that want an alternative to recommend. Give it a try really is a described a hidden gem.
