Enjoyable business trip topped of with a pleasant stay at this venue, spent four nights here the food menu was good however several items were not available which was disappointing, the breakfasts was excellent along with the service, rooms are spacious and clean disputes a little dated. What FootienBeer doesn't like about Mercure Hull Royal:
A shame it's not included in the room price. It's your average Premier Inn style steam oven product(No crispy Bacon). Serve yourself buffet apart from hot drinks. View all feedback.
A very nice and comfortable room.A great bed and superior bathroom.all in all a very pleasant stay in a very nice Hotel
Me daughter and I had afternoon tea here yesterday. I 'll start out with the positives... 1, The staff were Friendly 2, The building and decor is stunning 3, The prosecco was nice Now the negatives... 1, Parking is £2.50 minimum!!! Wow!!! 2, The food had been made waaaaay in advance and wasn 't fresh at all. 3, The bread was dry and stale 4, The Smoked salmon brioche was a weird colour and about 2 weeks out of date by my estimations (see photo) 5,The chocolate 'mouse ' was rock solid. 6, The scones where cheap shop bought 7, The butter had been spread on the bread hard so was just a thick horrible slab on the bread (see photo). 8, Staff didn 't ask if our food was ok. 9, My email to the manager was ignored. Now we did use a Groupon voucher but the afternoon tea was still £24.95 for 2 people and not worth it at all. I really did expect that our food would be freshly made. It had clearly been made earlier that morning (or even the previous day) and been left uncovered. Add on the £2.50 parking charge and I feel thoroughly ripped off. It would also have been nice to have a choice of sandwich fillings and maybe a pastry or two. There are much cheaper places around which give more choice, make your food fresh and bake scones and cakes in house rather than giving cheap shop bought ones. Very disappointing.
My husband and I went here for an afternoon tea and were really impressed. The table was set out lovely and we were greeted by one of the waiting staff who was very polite. The food was lovely, even though we don't like smoked salmon, so it would have been nice if we had been given a choice of sandwich fillings. There was more than enough to fill us both and we left feeling full and satisfied.
We intentionally went to the restaurant on Saturday 1st September, having visited before and experienced good service and quality of fare. However, this time it was terrible... Upon being welcomed the front of house did not know if they could take walk ins (was less then 20% occupied) eventually we got to chose our own table. Wine selected was brought to the table and upon confirmation was left on the end of the table unopened and without ice bucket. Meal selected Ribeye steak seasonal vegetables, when it came to the table it was with a Caesar salad. Requested blue to rare, it was extremely tough to cut and chew. Upon asking if it was actually Ribeye, it was taken away and similar returned to table in a similar condition! Left steak un eaten and it was not charged for. It can be no coincidence that the ownership has changed to Britannia Hotel and all the staff (including the chef) were extremely young and inexperienced. They clearly need a matradee to get hold of all elements otherwise this team will continue to sleepwalk into mediocracy
Had a brilliant day, lovely food brilliant staff (Gary and Tom nice atmosphere and well presented , will definitely recommend
