I have visited this restaurant twice recently and the owner, Jah B, continues to expand the space. They are located close to the beginning of the climax. During my visit, I was able to enjoy a well-prepared Ital or vegan meal at a decent price. The lodge offers 5 or 6 private rooms, as well as a dormitory for multiple people. I highly recommend staying overnight. The showers have cold water, but can be heated upon re... View all feedback.
Jah b is an amazing host. my friends and I enjoyed a lot in his pension. relaxed peaceful atmosphere. highly recommended! However, if they are on a budget trip, make sure they bring something to eat.
We stayed at Jah B's place one (half) night to do the hike up to the summit. Jah B cooked us dinner and breakfast which was lovely. We had a nice conversation and learned some more about Rastafarianism. One downside was that our hike was too slow (due to combination of other guests and the guide) and therefore we missed the sunrise. However it was cloudy so we probably wouldn't have seen much of it anyway. With a proper flash or headlight we could have done the hike on our own. The surroundings are beautiful and overall we did enjoy our stay very much.
Beautiful, rustic lodge with a very friendly staff. You can bring your own food (no refrigeration on site), or have them cook vegan meals. The $12 dinner was excellent! Prices seem to be based on tourists.
A complex up in the mountains away from the chaos of town. Just be prepared for the very rugged treacherous roads that you have to travel to get there. Definitely not for the faint hearted, and not to be driven by a novice. However upon reaching JB's Place you can relax and take in the view. They provide a nutritious vegetarian meal made from their local produce. Maybe a little on the dear side £10 a meal but very tasty. You can also buy his locally grown coffee, which can be ground on site. For those who would like to go to the top of Blue Mountain (which is another 4hrs hike you could stay at his premises, in the log cabins So check it out if you like tranquility and relaxation.
The views from Jah B's are incredible, and it is a great base camp for those hiking the Blue Mountain Peak Trail. Jah B is good company and we appreciated the Rasta vibes. However, the lodging itself could be improved. The bunk house has only 1 light bulb that is controlled from the main house. There are no electrical outlets and the showers don't work. The kitchen stove doesn't work, and when we were there the kitchen was being used as a produce storage area. Little children were roaming in and out of our rooms and had to be told repeatedly not to touch our belongings. In the main house, one bedroom had no light bulb or switch in the bathroom. The other room had a broken door that screeched and scraped across the floor. We were locked in and out of that room repeatedly, and had to climb through the window, because of the broken door knob. The shower water was freezing cold. The kitchen in the main house was decently stocked with cooking utensils, but you are forbidden from cooking any meat in the kitchen. This is the communal kitchen for all guests as well as Jah B's personal kitchen, so it can get hectic when multiple people are preparing meals. There is no refrigerator for storing food. The electricity seemed somewhat unreliable, and flickered on and off throughout our stay. But the wifi worked fine! Jah B offered us amazing coffee in the morning. We waited about an hour past the scheduled time for both the ride to and from the house. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Jah B's, but with some basic improvements and repairs this place could be a real gem.
