The lack of dog-friendly indoor seating, long waits for food, and disappointing menu selections such as stale cakes and limited breakfast hours have left customers frustrated. However, positive aspects include excellent Covid-19 safety measures, delicious food, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. The complex process of ordering and collecting food, as well as the limited restroom facilities, were noted as areas needing improvement. Overall, while some customers have had negative experiences, others continue to enjoy the restaurant under new management.
I went to this restaurant for afternoon coffee and cake. Unfortunately, on my last two visits, which were several months apart, I received a stale and hard piece of cake. The selection of cakes was poor, with only one option and some brownie alternatives. The pre-sliced cake seemed to have dried out before it was served. The cappuccino looked weak and made me question if there was any coffee in it. The staff did not address my complaint and simply removed the rest of the cake from display. I'm not sure if I was just unlucky or if this is a common occurrence. I did like the restaurant, but being disappointed twice has made me hesitant to visit again.
Not dog friendly, only outside which is useless in winter. The restaurant was large and empty so could easily have a dog friendly corner. Don’t serve food till 9.30 so could make that clearer too
I came to this restaurant for breakfast on my way back from vacation. They had excellent Covid safety measures in place. I enjoyed two delicious breakfasts, accompanied by Americanos. The restaurant also has a garden center and food hall on the premises.
The food was great, however the method of ordering and collecting was a little complex and difficult if you are less than active as it took multiple trips to collect the food, find the cutlery and any sauces etc. I think the 1 available toilet for a large establishment to cope with every diner was a mistake.
Have been a few times recently for coffee at The Bay Tree (was Dents) and they have done extremely well coping with Covid-19. They have a one-way system going in and a good system of keeping track of everyone that goes. As soon as someone vacates a table, there is a person there clearing it and cleaning thoroughly. Very, very impressed with their sanitising. And the staff are so very friendly. Well Done.
