Dare Devils is one of my favorite places to eat in the OBX! The food is extremely delicious. We tend to order Stromboli or the Italian sub (hot). The restaurant has made some changes (no longer full service), but given how difficult it is to find/keep good help everywhere you go the new setup works. You order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. Only negative I might have is that they no longer serve fountain sodas they now have cans or bottles. However, if you drink water or tea (sweet and unsweetened available), there are unlimited refills. The sauce used on the Stromboli and pizzas is very flavorful. Give them a try, you won’t regret it!
Came back to Dare Devils after 2 years and still stand by below review! Great pizza and great service. They updated to self service ordering and paying at the counter. This seems to work well and keeps the dining area free of congestion. Really, really good pizza! Crust was perfectly done to our liking. Waitress was polite, fast and attentive. If it looks busy from the outside don't worry. We got seated quickly. I would order beer by the pitcher, mugs are smaller in size. Nothing like a fresh, hot pizza when hungry at the beach!
Very friendly service. We ate in (family of 4) and the food turned up quickly despite the place being pretty busy. My beer was REALLY cold too, which was great. There seemed to be a lot of people in this evening who have been returning here year after year which was great to see. The food was good value in terms of portion sizes. I've definitely had better pizza (I'm more of a thin crust, or sourdough person), but there's nothing much wrong with Dare Devil's.
Best pizza I've eaten in OBX, and the salads were fresh and crisp.
Great location right on beach road and open at 11 most days so it’s a good lunch pizza option. Not a ton of seating if it gets busy. Pizza is mediocre standard but has good variety. Staff was friendly and good came out pretty quickly
Dare Devil's Pizzeria offers a relaxed dining experience with a counter-ordering system, perfect for a beachside meal. While the service is fast and friendly, opinions on the pizza quality vary. Some patrons enjoy the variety and freshness of toppings, praising specific items such as the meat pizza and Italian sub, while others find the crust overly chewy and disappointing. The ambience and convenient location add appeal, though prices align with typical beach costs. Despite mixed reviews on pizza, other menu items like appetizers received positive feedback, making it a solid option for casual dining at the beach.

Make sure to double-check your order before you leave! I would have enjoyed the cheese sticks more if I had received the marinara sauce I asked for. My husband thought the pizza was just okay, nothing special compared to other pizza places. The prices are on the higher side, but that's typical for a beach location. We ordered from Papa John's later in the week and found their food to be tastier and more affordable. While Dare Devil had good service, the food was mediocre.
Food was great, restaurant was clean, atmosphere was good and super reasonable prices!
Authentic pizzeria style pizza! When i'm driving in town for vacation, I always order ahead to pick up a pie for dinner the first night.
We ordered the Northshore and Massive Meat Pizzas and found them both to be delicious. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant on our next trip to the Outerbanks.
It wasn't a busy night when we visited. We ordered a small pizza, and the dough was chewy with little flavor. The toppings were decent, though.

I ordered a large pepperoni pizza from Dare Devil's Pizzeria last night (October 22, 2022). I have eaten there many times over the years, most recently just last month, and I have generally enjoyed their pizzas, finding them quite good. However, last night was a completely different experience – it was terrible! The crust was like chewing on a half-cooked piece of frozen cardboard, tough and chewy with a horrible taste. Even a frozen pizza that you bake at home would have been an improvement. I'm not sure if I'll ever go back again. I left feeling very disappointed.
The restaurant is ideally situated close to the beach, making it a great spot to dine. The service was quick and efficient, with our orders arriving promptly. The mozzarella sticks and wings were delicious, but unfortunately, the pizza was disappointing. It had an overly chewy texture, was missing the nice crispiness one would expect, and the cheese was hard. If Dave Portnoy were to review it, he would probably rate it around a 5.7. Overall, while we enjoyed the other items on the menu, the pizza did not meet our expectations for a place specializing in pizza.
During the off-season, this restaurant functions more like a self-service establishment. I've been there twice, and on both occasions, I ordered the small pie, which is sufficient for two people. The first time, I tried the meat lovers pie, and it was fantastic. On my second visit, my wife and I opted for an Italian sausage and mushroom pizza, which was equally delicious. Drinks come in cans and bottles, but if you ask, they will happily provide a glass with ice.
The service was very friendly. Our family of four dined in, and despite the restaurant being quite busy, our food arrived quickly. My beer was ice cold, which was a nice touch. It was great to see many regular customers returning year after year. The portion sizes offered good value. While I personally prefer thin crust or sourdough pizza and have had better, there was nothing wrong with Dare Devil's.
Great spot right on Beach Road, open from 11 most days, making it a convenient lunch pizza choice. Seating is limited, so it can get crowded. The pizza is fairly average but offers a good variety. The staff is friendly, and the food arrives quickly.

The large pizza is more like a medium in size, and its quality is similar to that of Little Caesar's. For $18, I'd rather opt for a frozen pizza instead.
I truly love this restaurant. The pizza was delicious, although it was a bit bread-heavy for my taste. My wife ordered a Philly Cheesesteak, and it was fantastic. The ambiance of the restaurant was also wonderful.
I truly enjoy dining at Dare Devils in OBX! The ambiance is laid-back, and the food is fantastic. Our favorite dish is the Stromboli...
