Wasn't actually on the pier so not sure if I'm eligible to review, but the water and pier combination underneath is soo pretty!?

The only pier I have any experience with is the Folly Beach Fishing Pier in SC. Perhaps it's unfair to compare the two as the Folly Pier was rebuilt in 1995, thus it's larger and more modern. The Avalon Pier is definitely geared mostly for fishing. Unlike the Folly Pier, Avalon Pier has very few benches for folks to sit and enjoy the view. The end of the pier is cordoned off and only accessible for those fishing. That is disappointing as the best panoramic view is at the end. There is an arcade with a fair number of video games, plus a bar and restaurant. It cost my husband and me $2 each to walk the pier but that could've been applied to drinks. Definitely an option for families seeking an ocean view, food, and entertainment for kids, young and old.

We bought a fish plaque when we strew the ashes of our beautiful granddaughter, Finn. She was a beautiful baby that was born asleep. Today would have been her 6th birthday. We all threw pink petals from a rose bush that was planted in her honor.

Took my son for his bday to do a little fishing. Not knowing the first thing about fishing and the rods and the bait I was a bit intimidated but the gentleman working the desk was a tremendous help. Happy we came here and caught some fish as well!
