Description

**Dining Review: A Mixed Bag at the Waterfront Fish and Chip Shop**

Nestled by the water, this restaurant offers a blend of experiences that leave diners divided. On one hand, the barramundi tempura is praised for its crispy freshness, and the garnels steal the spotlight with their sweetness. However, several patrons lament the inconsistent food quality, noting unseasoned fries and lackluster oysters. Service issues arise frequently, with reports of rude staff interactions marring the overall enjoyment. While the cash-only policy and eye-popping prices may deter some, others laud the generous portions and delicious fish. With potential for improvement, this waterfront gem remains a work in progress.

Very fresh flathead and cash. best fish and chips except bermagui fisherman’s restaurant, but oh so close to the best. many thanks also to the brave young woman who works on herself and does her best to get quick food. for a job well done.

The location is great, but I have concerns about the cash-only policy, which feels like a money grab. I can't help but think they're benefiting from taxpayer funds for the road work around their restaurant. The fish and chips were just okay—not fresh and heavily breaded. Overall, I found it to be quite overpriced for what you get.

I have never in my life experienced such a bad customer service. I patiently waited over an hour for a grilled salmon,..after seeing that 15 orders after my number have been called out I politely asked the lady is my order coming soon, just in case it hasn 't been mixed up with so many orders,..she started yelling at me can 't I see that they are understaffed, marched to the kitchen and told the guy 'this b is complaining ',.. I was in shock,..couldn 't believe what I heard. She gave me very small piece of salmon that wouldn 't take more than 5 mins to cook. All the time I was there she was yelling at her poor husband and an older lady helping them out. I understand they were understaffed, but I wasn 't even complaining and didn 't deserve such a response. I am sure with those prices they can afford more staff. Such a shame for that prime location.

The restaurant only accepts cash, but the food is absolutely delicious. It's a bit pricey, but the freshness makes it worth it. There are no issues with birds because of the environment, so the staff gladly takes care of the trash.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant, where the generous portions, delicious fresh fish, and excellent service stood out. I visited frequently last month and was particularly impressed by the local live cochan, which was a delightful treat. The fish in the photos I took was much more tender than Penelope's version. The seating is right by the water's edge, adding to the ambiance. I usually opt for half chips since the portions are quite large. I highly recommend this place—I will definitely be back. Eating with wooden forks wasn't a hassle at all, but I plan to remember to bring my own utensils next time. Overall, an excellent experience!
