Gate - Kensington and Chelsea

The service at this restaurant is fast and the staff are very attentive, which is crucial in a busy bar. I visited with friends and discovered one of London's best hidden gems.

This club should not be called a restaurant. The burgers were awful, mine wasn't cooked hardly at all even though I asked for a really well done one. The food was served on plastic trays, a bit like school dinners. Grease surrounded the burger, it was awful. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome but I would not recommend eating there.

I bought a Groupon deal which got my girlfriend and I two burgers with fries and two sides (we took chicken wings and macaroni cheese). The food was pretty great, the beef of the burger was clearly quality and the sides were very nice and super filling. I had a glance at the full menu and I think burger+fries priced at £7.50 is definitely cheap for what it was and that makes me want to come back. On the other side cocktails were almost £10 which is quite expensive. This place is kind of a fashionable bar where you can also eat: the decoration is cool, the music is pumping the TOP CHARTS and its decadent. However when we came it was empty, perhaps because it was early dinner, perhaps also because its located in the basement which isn't the best. On the other side its easy to find, Nottinghill Gate can't be better. The staff were nice. Conclusion: Would come back for a burger and fries. Definitely worth the cheap Groupon.

The burger I had at this restaurant had a disgusting smell to the meat. When I complained, I was initially told that the meat was fresh daily, but then the story changed to it being delivered on Mondays and Thursdays. I found it odd that there were only three tables of diners in the restaurant on a Friday night, which didn't seem to justify having two deliveries per week. The fries and coleslaw were tasty and presented well, but the loud music and screaming from the next room made it difficult to have a conversation with my dining companion. Overall, serving spoiled meat is never acceptable. The interior of the restaurant was a dark basement that seemed to have been converted from a nightclub, with tables and chairs placed on the dance floor.

Top burger and very good cocktails. Excellent service and a nice atmosphere. Best greetings from Germany.
