Reviews - Java Nation
Reviews summary
Nestled in a vibrant neighborhood, this restaurant boasts a cozy atmosphere and a diverse menu. Diners rave about standout options like the breakfast sandwich and delightful chai latte, though some have found the pricing high relative to portion sizes. While the food generally garners positive ratings, customer service experiences vary—some appreciate the attentiveness, while others feel overlooked. The ambiance is praised, making it a perfect spot for relaxation or casual work sessions. However, diners note the self-service format may disappoint those expecting traditional waitstaff. Overall, this eatery appeals to those willing to pay for quality in a welcoming setting.

I enjoy visiting Java Nation. They serve good coffee, and when my drink was burnt, they kindly replaced it. They have a point system, but the staff don't always ask if you have one. For instance, I made two purchases: the first was around $100 and they didn’t ask about points, but the second, only about $16, they did. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to apply points to the first larger purchase, which was frustrating but... View all feedback.
What J Ward dislikes about Java Nation:
If you are a coffee shop, you shouldn't run out of coffee (it's coffee, make some more). That way, you have to buy a latte instead. Then, you get to pay 20 bucks for a tuna sandwich and a latte. Oh, joy. View all feedback.

Quiche was delicious and fluffy. The salad that came with it was fresh. Espresso in cappuccino was over-extracted, and chai latte was overly sweet.
Met with a client for coffee and lunch. Atmosphere was great. The Nutella banana crepe was heaven! Coffee was great as well.
Place is a nice atmosphere, but don't expect a waitress. Highly overpriced for the small quantity of food. First time visiting, wasn't even greeted, they saw me come in, sitting on the table expecting a waitress. Went up to the counter then realized you order your food, pay for it first. I see they got good reviews but honestly IHop taste much better, and is not overly priced and you get a waitress. For the high price food, they should afford waitresses. Also Nicks Dinner is less expensive and you get way better food for its price, and really a home style cooking. If you don't care about prices, and don't care about waitress, and have the money to spend then this place is perfect for you. I am not saying is bad place, just need to do better on there customer service, and charge a reasonable price for getting your own plate, and also cleaning up after yourself.
Great local Kensington MD coffeehouse. Its hidden in the back of the parking lot!
Quick spotlight on one of my favorite little neighborhood spots! I come here every so often when I’m just looking for a breakfast I don’t have to prepare. I always get the same thing the breakfast sandwich and chai latte, which are both always amazing. Some day I’ll expand my palate because they have a bunch of pastries and other menu items that I’m sure are great. It’s such a cozy spot and the service has always been wonderful for me, as well as the ambience. I definitely enjoy coming here! Small thing that in no way takes away from the rating, but I would enjoy a bit more diversity in the wall art . But the bio on the wall says it was all done by one artist, a high school senior who did an amazing job! That’s just a personal preference. Either way, I’m a repeat customer!

I've been coming to the Kensington Java Nation since I moved here 10 yrs ago. I've always stopped when I'm in this area (I live in Silver Spring). I love the fare, the coffee, and the atmosphere. BTW, I love the renovated outdoor seating area.I'm thrilled to now have a Java Nation in dntn Silver Spring!
This morning, I ordered a bacon and egg breakfast sandwich along with three chicken and cheese pupusas, which cost me $25. I just opened the container of pupusas and discovered that they only had cheese in them.
Love the coffee, food, pastries, and atmosphere of this cafe. Probably my favorite cafe in the area. The arepas are fantastic!!

4 stars for good coffee in the area, 3 stars compared to cute small business coffeeshops in general (ie Vigilante in College Park). The coffee is good at least and certainly better quality than chain coffee. The decor is tired and dated, which gives me the impression they've been there awhile. Hopefully they update soon and tone down on the tacky decor.
Well made coffee with great breakfast options. The customer service is excellent. I love coming here for a quick breakfast!
Great experience! The coffee is incredibly strong, and there are plenty of options, including homemade syrups and foam toppings. However, the bathrooms had some unusual décor that felt a bit out of place.
So embarrassing that I've been driving by this place for years and just assuming it was yet another coffee shop with a few pastries. Turns out they have a great food menu for breakfast (assuming there's a lunch and dinner menu too). Healthy choices and interesting choices. Food was well made and well presented. Nice places to sit indoor and outdoors. Glad I finally thought to stop by. So much more than just a coffee shop.

We ordered the Portobello grilled cheese and the avocado toast, and they were both delicious! The coffee was great as well.
This has become my new favorite café! My wife and I have been enjoying breakfast and coffee there, and we absolutely love the fresh food and excellent coffee. Every time we visit, I make it a point to try something new. The customer service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. You can count on us to be regulars every week!
I ordered a hot cocoa and a lemon crunch croissant. The hot chocolate was simply delightful! I really should have taken a photo, but I drank it way too quickly! The croissant was tasty as well, especially when warmed up. It’s a popular spot where people often do their work, making it a lovely place to relax alone or to catch up with friends.
Stopped in for a quick breakfast on vacation and really enjoyed it! We got an omelet, a breakfast sandwich, a latte, and a fresh juice, all of which were delicious. The omelet was generously filled with mushrooms and goat cheese, and served with deliciousbreakfast potatoes and a small salad. I love a place that puts well dressed greens on a breakfast plate! The breakfast sandwichwas better than most, with house made sausage, nice sharp white cheddar, and a delicious aioli. The English muffin tasted housemade, as well. The carrot aid juice (carrot, apple, ginger, lemon) was good, although I would have preferred more carrot.Overall it was a lovely breakfast!
