The roll I had at the Kenosha location was amazing. I'm really curious about what the secret sauce is because it was delicious! Although I usually complain about restaurant prices, the sushi here is surprisingly affordable, so I can't really complain at all. I'm so glad I discovered this place! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Ono Sushi Kenosha:
O no! Not going there again! Everything , from the cheap decor to the quality of the food is a poor attempt at upscale sushi dining . Having read the reviews it leaves me wondering if any of those compared this to true upscale dining not found in Kenosha. $52 for edemame, one roll and 1 poke that was 2 spoonfuls and inedible is leaves much to be desired. Even the service wasn 't great and it has nothing to do with co... View all feedback.
Absolutely the best! I adore the Ono crunch roll, and all the appetizers are phenomenal. The salads are fantastic, and the miso soup is outstanding. I'm also a big fan of the quail eggs and soft-shell crab! The prices are very reasonable, especially considering its prime downtown location.
During our bike ride through town, we spotted this restaurant and decided to return for dinner. We made reservations and were glad we did. From the moment we arrived until we left, the place was bustling. By 6 PM on Friday, every table was occupied, and there was a continuous flow of takeout and DoorDash orders going out. We will definitely be coming back!
For appetizers, my wife and I shared the Beef Bulgogi Bao. The bao bun was soft and pillowy, and the beef was incredibly tender with fantastic flavor. My wife ordered the Smoke Crunch Roll, which she described as delicious with just the right amount of spice. I opted for the Spider Roll along with some a la carte Sake/Smoked Salmon. The tempura crab in the Spider Roll was perfectly crispy, and the roll had a lovely tanginess. The sake was truly exceptional—the smoked salmon was prepared flawlessly and had an incredible taste. Would I return to Ono Kenosha? Absolutely!
This is an excellent sushi option. Eclectic and modern with great flavors and atmosphere. The staff are always warm and friendly. Presentation and taste are awesome. Even with the odd request for hand roll. Perfection. Plus great flavors!!
Just when u thought Soon's has cornered the market in Kenosha for sushi....ONO! Theres a new sheriff in town! My 1st time trying this place out with takeout...I only have Soons to compare it to, so thats what I'll do. 1st up Bulgogi bun: beef didnt LOOK like much:. No sear, no sizzle. Just dull brown chunks sitting in a raw-looking dough. But 1 bite later... such sweet flavorful meat being hugged by a light airy cottonball patty of bread. It felt indescent to eat this in public. I had to close my eyes before opening my mouth for the next bite. 2 of these were more than enuf! Ion even think Soons offers this... Next seaweed salad:. I've definitly had this at Soons. Portion size is smaller here. Perhaps due to the half a cucumber they sliced up under the seaweed. Soons dont use cucumber?! Going in... this is a much sweeter version...and it's good. I. Could Not. Stop. Eating. It. I had to pull myself away to try the main dish (definity finished it tho) The California Roll. (ALWAYS start with the basics when trying a new place) Again, portion size is smaller than Soons. Taste is extremely similar also. But Soons wins cuz theirs is made fresh to order. The rice is still warm when ordering from Soons. This was cold and uninviting. As if they were made for the peasant California Roll eaters earier that day. Also, foiled wrapped ginger...not classy (and smaller portion than Soons gives) Also, once i break the chopsticks, hard to tell which end is which (just sayin..made sushi life a bit harder) Overall, lots of good, very little bad. Will come again.
