Love this place! Definitely old school environment. Charming owner on premises vibe with a friendly, welcoming Bartley himself behind the bar. The waitresesses are effortlessly efficient, knowledgeable and helpful. Old school condiments on the table priorto the main course, a brandy old fashioned that was perfection, warm dinner rolls reminiscent of my grandmother 's partnered withreasonable prices made the whole experience memorable. Our party of four had a mixture of seafood and steak, fillet mignon, sirloin and tilapia. Nothing fancy, just good food cooked exactly to order. Will definitely include this place on my next tripto Kenosha.
Came here for dinner with my grandma and her friends before we went to go see a show and they were all excited about it I arrived about a half hour late and they had not ordered but they all knew what they want so I very quickly just chose the weeklyspecial which was prime rib and they chose the other weekly specials which I believe were some pork chops and some kind ofchicken we ordered promptly as soon as I arrived but still did not receive our food for almost an hour. Prime rib for $28 wasnot that good it was very bland and somewhat tough, and everyone complained that their food had arrived somewhat lukewarm, noneof it was very hot at all. Three of the 4 people in my part complained the food was bland also, and no one finished (except meand that's because I skipped lunch). When we came it was not super busy but it did pick up later in the night. All in all weallotted about 2 hours for time to eat before our show and ended up eating for about 15 minutes of that hurriedly and with theslow service and not so great food for over $100 for a party of four I don't think we'll be returning.
I've been here a couple times and the service was always friendly. Definitely an old school supper club vibe. The neighborhood is sketchy, but there's a security guard watching the vehicles. Seems legit, right?!?! The kidney bean salad cottage cheese is a nice touch while you wait for your dinner. The place could use a face lift, but I'm guessing that's why the lighting is so dim. I got a NY strip my first visit the chopped steak on my second. Both were really good. Typical choice of potatoes, so not much to say there. If you're looking for a blast from the past this place is a good choice next to hopping into the Delorean with Doc Brown.
I ordered the ribs, and they were exceptional. My girlfriend enjoyed the shrimp De Jonghe and was thrilled with her choice. Our son had the fried shrimp and wished he had gone for the ribs as well. Pam, our waitress, is fantastic – we really appreciate her! The server who helped her with water and other duties was also very diligent. This restaurant has a delightful old-school ambiance and serves delicious food; you definitely need to give it a try!
Is it good, bad, or excellent? I've been frequenting this restaurant for years. If you love flavorful steaks grilled to perfection and fresh seafood—especially those cooked over charcoal—then you're in for a real delight. The ambiance feels reminiscent of a traditional supper club, complete with seven-course meals and classic sides like kidney beans, cottage cheese, and cheese crackers served before your main course. The food here is outstanding, easily outshining any chain restaurant. I highly recommend giving it a try; if you appreciate high-quality dining, you'll definitely enjoy it. It's also a fantastic choice for dates and birthdays, so you really can't go wrong!
