Stopped in at 430 on a Friday and had the #3 combo for 15 dollars. Extremely filling for one person, I barely got through it. I was the only person there and it took just over ten minutes to get it plated. A bit on the slow side but it was worth it. It was excellent. I don't eat sushi all the time but this is one of the best plates I have had in Kelowna right beside the 911 rolls at Yama. It was a nice surprise and i... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Komatsu Japanese Market:
We used to love this place. Used to be best sushi in town, fast service, affordable, etc. Recently was sold. When we went in September the service was incredibly slow and a number of items came incorrectly and had to be sent back. Hopefully they are getting organized by now...? The food that eventually came was still good. Apparently most of the kitchen staff was still the same. Not sure if kitchen staff will stay if... View all feedback.
We were trying to go out for dinner to a BBQ place that I've written about before and wanted to try again But it's not open for dinner now, so we went across the parking lot to the Japanese market that said it served food. When you open the door there is maybe a dozen tables inside with one wall that has items for sale(the market items). You go up to the counter to order and then they bring it out to you. We ordered a few items and were pleasantly surprised at the beautifully arranged rolls and the care that was taken with all ingredients to arrange them to be pleasing to the eyes. I think it goes without saying that we were extra ordinarily pleased with our meal and the price was quite reasonable as well. We also bought a couple of pops from the market part and they had glass ball bearings in the opening, everyone needs to try this. Loved it!

The location is neat and clean and seats about 16. Open till about 530 on the weekdays and I won't hesitate to return.
I love stopping in at Komatsu for a quick, healthy bite that's inexpensive! The brown rice sushi option is awesome and I love their spring rolls!!

When I first heard of Komatsu, I thought it was just a tiny grocery store. It is that... and has Japanese food for takeout. Specifically, sushi and warm rice bowls. My favourite is the pork cutlet curry bowl. You get the choice of having white or brown rice for the rice bowls - something uncommon. There's also few hot side dishes like dumplings and gyoza. Best time to go is at lunch (11am-1pm) when more food is packaged and ready to go. Other than that, it's mainly made and packed when you order. Should you choose to stay and eat, there's about 3 wooden tables inside and a couple tables outside. For groceries, it's all Japanese product. The prices are about 25% higher than the big cities with Asian grocery stores competing against each other. They have dry snacks, candy, Black brand chocolate, rice seasonings, sushi ingredients, various condiments, boxed curry mixes, pop, bottled milk tea, and refrigerated items like tofu, and pickled plum. One of the snacks I noticed was candied crabs. I've had these in Hong Kong and never thought anyone would sell them on the other side of the ocean.I will definitely be a regular here.
