Hidden gem serving authentic Salvadoran fare—famous pupusas, plenty of seafood (whole fried fish, fried tilapia), yucca, plantains and tamales—paired with bright aguas frescas. Generous portions arrive with chips, salsa and curtido; photos on the wall make ordering easy. Friendly, attentive staff and a small Salvadoran market at checkout add charm. Reasonably priced and family-friendly, it’s ideal for casual meals, celebrations and repeat visits to sample more dishes.

If you’re new to Salvadoran cuisine, you might notice that it resembles Mexican food in some ways, but it has its own distinct flavors. When you sit down, you'll be served chips and salsa. I recommend skipping them, even though the salsa was tasty and had a bit of a kick. You don't want to fill up on a Tex-Mex staple when you're there to explore Salvadoran dishes. The menu features a lot of yucca and plantains, as well as popular items like chicharrón and plenty of seafood. If you're in the mood for a whole fried fish, they have that too. We started with some nachos—mini tostadas topped with white cheese, beans, and carne asada—and then ordered six pupusas (which are thick tortillas stuffed with your choice of filling), along with a side of yucca with chicharrón and plantains with cream. The nachos were made on what looked like a toasted shell cut in half, resembling a large crescent-shaped chip. There was a seasoning on them that I couldn’t quite identify. We chose six pupusas to sample a variety of flavors, and they were served on a single plate. Though they appeared small, they were quite filling. Each dish came with a bowl of shredded, pickled cabbage and a bowl of a cold red sauce to add on top. The sauce isn’t meant to be spicy, so I encourage you to give it a try. One of the highlights of our meal was the drinks. The menu offers a wide selection of aguas frescas to choose from. You can use Google to translate the options, and I recommend trying the passion fruit version if you can—it’s similar to lemonade but has a unique twist. The lemonade was also excellent. Overall, this is a fantastic place to visit for a meal, and we would definitely like to return to sample more dishes. On your way out, you'll notice a small market with Salvadoran food items for sale, which is a nice touch.

I didn't realize we were stepping into a Salvadoran restaurant until we arrived. It turned out to be a uniquely enjoyable experience. Some menu items can be a bit on the pricey side, and while the interior feels somewhat dated, the food was quite good. Rating: 4/5.

Amazing food, the young man that was my server was very kind and knowledgeable, the pup us as were amazing. A small thing but the salsa they brought out with the chips was ACTUALLY GOOD which is hard to find north of San Antonio. Loved it!
