What User doesn't like about Gasthaus Zum Taunus & Schaefer Jakobs Apfelland:
actually we had much expected of the "seat jacob", a rustic gas house in the old hornauer city nucleus, but somehow we had bad luck. in the gaststube it was so loud that you could hardly entertain, the eating was unhurried and lukewarm- alone the desserts and the nice dame of the service (not the chefin!) have compensated for. Beautiful family dinner here to celebrate the 150th family meeting of the Schmitt family, which came from Hornau in 1868. Restaurant is still owned by followers of my ancestors
Many restaurants are closed in this area on Mondays, but fortunately not this one! We had almost all the space for us. Service was immediately, food came out quickly and was YUMMY! Loved the cream sauce (such as a beef/mushroom seasoned sauce with my delicious roast potatoes! Hot chocolate and apple strudel were good pieces of delicious vanilla sauce with the strudel. We were in another restaurant in Kelkheim (Gundelhardt? where people weren't so friendly, so I loved the nice lady waiting for us and was ready to go a little out of menu to work with my somewhat unconventional meal wishes. The prices were very reasonable. Restaurant has a sweet apple theme. I'm back!
This is the typical place where the locals... Very good food and friendly staff. You have a fairly large menu so you can choose all German classics. English is not widely spoken, so bring your Google translators:
A surprising discovery in Kelkheim. Very friendly, fun and helpful. Great food. The apple pumpkin soup was delicious, like the main course. The children got an ice sun, colour pencils and paper. The staff was very attentive and waited to serve my warm lunch until I was ready to take care of the children. All in all, a great experience and we will come back.
I often go here for my Sonntags Braten the traditional Sunday lunch German meal. It 's family run, been in business for over 200 years, has a nice, traditional atmosphere, and the food is good. The service is friendly.
