Agave Rio - Katy
Agave Rio
Description
Agave Rio offers a mixed dining experience, with some guests highlighting the excellent food quality, attentive service, and beautiful presentation of dishes. However, others express disappointment with the slow service, limited food options, and issues with cleanliness. The patio dining and live music are praised, making it a great spot for cocktails and appetizers. While the Sunday brunch received mixed reviews, dinner experiences seem more positive. Overall, Agave Rio is seen as a charming local spot with superb food for those willing to pay a bit more for a special dining experience. The new Tex-Mex menu and live music create a resort-like ambiance perfect for a date night.

The Mother’s Day buffet was very disappointing. Food selection was limited, service was slow, and the 20 percent mandatory tip was ridiculous.
Went for Mother’s Day brunch. The service was extremely slow, we had to grab a pitcher of water ourselves so we could refill our own drinks. The food was cold, and the bbq was dry.
I live in Firethorne and have been to Agave many times. This time the TexMex experience was poor. I had a party of 6, we sat inside. Music was too loud. I asked the waiter to turn it down. 15 minutes later it was just as loud. The waiter skipped one person’s drink order. Two in my party ordered chicken tortilla soup. It was chili, not soup. I ordered tamales. Everyone else was served and I was told my order would be right out. 15 more minutes and I was informed that the chef was not cooking tamales tonight. I was offered another entree on the house. At that point I settled for something quick and a to go box in order to not hold up the rest of my party. If the chef is not serving tamales the wait staff should know it at the start of dinner service and certainly not tell me twice “It’s coming right out “. DISAPPOINTED
I live in Firethorne and have frequented Agave often. Unfortunately, my recent TexMex dining experience was subpar. I had a group of 6, and we were seated inside where the music was too loud. Despite asking the waiter to lower the volume, it remained the same. Additionally, the waiter forgot one person's drink order and two in my party ordered tortilla soup, only to receive what appeared to be chili instead. When I ordered a tamale, I was told that the chef hadn't prepared any that night. After waiting 15 minutes, I was offered a complimentary dish, but at that point, I chose to pack up my meal and leave. If a certain dish isn't available, the staff should inform customers at the beginning of the meal rather than making excuses later on.
