The Metropole Guesthouse, Katoomba

This lovely hotel was so much to our liking. The train station is right opposite, but still quiet and centrally located. The house still exudes some of the town's former flair with its dark wooden furnishings, the fireplace room, the library, and the Art Deco window panes. The inner courtyard is rustic with all its pipes, hoses and cables. And then: the slowest passenger elevator in the southern hemisphere! The rooms are big enough, clean. The breakfast buffet was extensive and the staff was unbeatable.

Worst service, Walked in to see rooms. Receptionist was not ready at first and then when she showed she was angry for no reason. Rooms: 1 Service: 1 Location: 1

Such a lovely place and friendly staff! The Interieur is great, like a museum. The location is also great: directly opposite the train station, all shops and restaurants are nearby. It’s only 20-30 minutes to the three sisters or the scenic world (5 min by car). The staff is super friendly and helpful I stayed for four 4 nights over NYE (since all hotels in Sydney CBD were extraordinary expensive) and didn’t regret it. The drive from Sydney to Katoomba is also lovely, but there can be a lot of fog in the blue by mountains, especially in the morning. The hotel has a free parking space
