This restaurant is consistently quiet and beautiful, depending on the night. The meals are excellent, with the best Thai beef salad in Darwin and a delicious chicken salad. I have tried many restaurants in Darwin, but the Karama Tavern is my go-to for a guaranteed good meal. The service can be slow but is always worth the wait, especially for their delicious parmys and other menu items. The Sunday roast is perfect, and the $10 lunch specials are a great deal. Overall, I have nothing to complain about at this restaurant.

When the "Tomaten auf Toast" (which they call "bruschett" on their menu) finally arrived, it was actually half-green tomatoes on thick toast, which is not true bruschetta. The garlic prawns were tasteless and the prawns were soggy, indicating they were likely frozen from Thailand. There was a limited amount of garlic sauce and rice. The only decent dish was the potato wedges, so one out of three wasn't bad. Overall, I would recommend avoiding this place and instead going to the Hot Tamale Restaurant in the city by the waterfront, which is much better in every way. Since arriving in Darwin in February, I have tried many restaurants and cafes/taverns, and I would rate Karama Tavern as the worst. The only positive aspect was that the staff were friendly, although a bit slow and forgetful. It seemed like they didn't enjoy working there either.

Lunch today with friends saw mixed results! a group of 4, 2 ordered the carving lunch special and was said salat was an additional cost of $5. from the additional cost salat and gravy, which arrived was a basic carving and chips stacked. on a side of the plate, rather inconspicuous. the other 2 meal times ordered from the menu were delicious and well presented. However, the meal times arrived at various times.

I ordered the special but with pepper gravy it came out with mushroom, I asked for to be changed and after waiting for 10 minutes I asked again. She had forgotten. My partner's green chicken curry was lacking in flavour. Mt steak was cooked good...and pretty good. Unfortunately we would be back.

My wife and I frequently eat at our local bistro. We always choose the daily special, which is so delicious that we haven't felt the need to explore the rest of the menu. For $22, you can enjoy a 300gm porterhouse steak with chips, salad, and mushroom sauce. Every time we have ordered this dish, the steak has been cooked perfectly to our liking.
