It is nice to see that this restaurant keeps the quality and ambience over so many years so that we make sure to visit the place when we are somewhere near. I think...the reservation is necessary as the restaurant was fully booked when we were there (on Thursday). Our favourite are their steaks that you finally cook yourself on the hot stone on your table. The steak and all other dishes were delicious plus you have a bit of exercise as well. When you are in Kaprun, this is must go restaurant.

The welcoming interior is tradi... read more The Der Dorfstadl is a traditional Austrian restaurant on the edge of Kaprun within easy walking distance of the village centre. The welcoming interior is traditional Austrian with some interesting and contemporary interior features. The menu is offered in English which is just as well...although the wine list can be a struggle to translate. In any event we had a great evening. The menu was interesting and all the dishes were freshly prepared and reasonably priced. Although the restaurant was busy and popular with locals, this didn't impact on the service but would suggest reserving a table makes good sense to avoid disappointment. Steak and game were both beautifully presented and delicious.

We waited a... read more The food was got, but nothing over the top, local dishes and game dishes. The prices are over the average in Kaprun. The worst part was the service. We waited about 30-40 minutes after the main course for the deserts wich were ordered in the...begining. No one would come to the table to ask us if we wanted something more to drink. First I thought that the restaurant was full and they were understaffed untill I noticed that other tables were being served instantley (probably more expensive food/drinks). All in all the experience was very bad due to the service and there are other better restaurants in Kaprun to eat.
