Shave Ice By The Bay - Kapaa

Oh my goodness! We have been coming to Kauai for 15 years now and we have never tried shave ice. This was our first time and it was the bomb!! They use fresh mango and fresh coconut- not the fake syrup!!! I'm not sure I ever want to try one of those others. A must!!!

I think it's important to preface that IMHO shave ice is an exceptionally varied matter of personal preference. Presentation is clearly all about first impressions because, within minutes, that gorgeous mountain of sweet island salvation is a pile of sludge, regardless of the finery in the composition. Depending on your personal first impression preference, you're either going to be absolutely salivating or, you know, just very, very excited about shoving those sweet calories down your throat. I was of the latter impression with Shave Ice By The Bay because, well, the mound of ice and creamed ice was so dang enormous. Don't get me wrong, I still conquered, but I'm only a fan of excess when it comes to beer, pho or steak, so I'd say I was just a tad overwhelmed. The flavor options were extensive, they put together a pretty solid acai bowl, and I'd return, but let me point out this signpost: brain freeze ahead.

First off, their shave ice was amazing! My family and I have tried almost every shave ice place on Kauai and this is the best by far. They had many creative flavors!! Did I mention that it was super affordable! Overall, this was a great shave ice experience! I would highly recommend.

The Lava Flow shave ice was delicious! So much flavor! We got the large size and shared... it's huge! Just when we thought it can't get any better, we got to the bottom part and there was ice cream! Definitely recommend it!
