I attended a wedding at this venue last weekend. Everything was well-organized and the location was beautiful. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. View all feedback.
We recently held our wedding reception at The Landing as on paper (and when initially checking out the venue) it appeared to be a great location for a wedding. Unfortunately, this did not turn out to be the case.Overall, we were disappointed by the level of customer service before the actual reception and by some of the events that happened during the course of evening, which have just recently come to light following discussions with some of our guests who attended. In summary:In particular before the reception:Upon arriving at the Landing on 27 Feb the day before our wedding, to commence some set up of the venue, we were not even so much as greeted by a staff member at the Landing. When we walked into the room we would be using for our reception, and made a comment to each other about a TV that was there, the "Venue Manager" Julie Healy (who was in the room but had not even acknowledged our presence) responded with "it will be gone before your wedding" in an unfriendly tone without so much as a "hello". We found Julie to be particularly rude and abrupt, not only us but to our photographer, who had come in on the day to look at the venue and organise the photo booth set up. Specifically, Julie acted surprised that our photographer didn't know whether we had planned to have a band at our reception. It is not the responsibility of the photographer to know all the details of the venue set up but rather, the venue / event co-ordinator. In addition, we were shocked and disgusted by our conversation with Julie over an extension cord that we needed to set up a projector that we had brought along to display a slideshow (due to the ripoff price of $400 to hire one directly from the Landing).Particular questions around set up of the room for a lolly buffet and MC area were either not given or we were misinformed about this. For example, when we looked to confirm the position of the MC stand per the plan we were given with Julie while we were setting up, she provided us with incorrect information. We obtained our own projector for a fraction of the cost that the Landing offered. When we arrived the day before the wedding to set up the equipment, we discovered that the projector cord was not quite long enough. We asked Julie for assistance and to borrow an extension cable and she told us that there are only 3 extension cords available for all the entire function venue and that they were unavailable for us to use. She was very much of the attitude that if you want to DIY, you'll have to DIY the entire thing. The issue with the extension cord was clearly unforeseeable by us. However, despite this we were not offered any solutions from the venue staff. We had to express disappointment to Julie and make it clear that this poor level of service is not acceptable before any assistance or a solution was offered. Even when the cable was offered it was pointed out that if we read through our package, it did not include the use of an extension cable. Such small things should be covered under general "venue hire" - for example the contract doesn't state specifically how many rolls of toilet paper are provided; it is to be assumed that the venue will cater basic necessities as standard. On the night of the reception:Despite having submitted our confirmed numbers before the relevant deadline (with only 2 minor changes on the day), we had some shocking feedback from a few guests. Specifically:Table 1 did not have alternate drop meals and had to eat fish only. When guests inquired about the lack of alternate drop, they were told that the kitchen had "run out of meat dishes". This is not acceptable, particularly because we confirmed numbers in advance. One guest's child (at table 1) did not even receive a kid's meal or have a high chair. Instead, this was given to a 4 month old baby sitting at a different table!!Our photographer was a guest at our wedding at our reception. This was clear from the confirmed wedding reception details that we submitted in advance. Despite this, staff refused to serve him any drinks on the night and we had to request a meal for him.The photographer's assistant, who was also confirmed on our reception list in advance was not even provided with a meal, even though we agreed and paid for a supplier meal for himIn general:Unfair charges imposed by the Landing and the attitude that "if you want to DIY, you'll have to DIY everything. We are not open to being reasonable with requests". This is supported by the following ridiculous charges such as $50 cleaning fee for lolly buffet, regardless of type of lollies we have and the fact that we set up and cleared up the table ourselves (and that there was not any additional mess from this once we left). In addition, minor charges for items such as $25 per linen on additional tables which we found completely ludicrous.Event co-ordination is a customer facing role and one staff member at the Landing in particular (Julie) did not demonstrate this at all.It is clear from the above that we are very disappointed and feel that we were let down by the venue and certain staff, who only seemed to care about money. The night itself appeared to be lovely to us but in the reality, this was far from the situation in the background. We paid a lot of money to hold our reception at the venue and expected a decent customer experience. Instead, it seemed like we were only being blocked and felt like a large reason for this was because wechose to "DIY" parts of the reception.Based on our experience we would have no hesitation in strongly discouraging any friends, family or associates to hold a function at The Landing as the staff, particularly the "Venue Manager" Julie Healy, instead of making the organisation and planning as simple a process as possible, made every request out to be unreasonable. We certainly do not feel we received value for money, with the attitude from The Landing of providing the bare minimum possible. As a further demonstration of their lack of commitment to customer satisfaction, after forwarding the above feedback through to The Landing, requesting it to be passed on to the management, we are yet to hear back with so much as an apology. Avoid at all costs!

I attended a wedding reception at The Landing on September 20, 2014. The food and wine were excellent. Everyone had a fantastic time. The quality of the wine and service were great, and the room was beautifully decorated. Overall, a job well done. I highly recommend this place. The view of the river at night is awesome.
The restaurant is an ideal place for functions because it is right beside the river and close to a ferry terminal. Coming by ferry would be quite special. Car parking is not easy to find and not cheap. The wait staff were very pleasant, young and unobtrusive. Our function had innovative, good food and received good bar service.
We attended a wedding here and it was fantastic! The venue is bright and airy, with a lovely view of the River and located near a Quest hotel for overnight stays. The food was great, and the service very efficient.
