I have been to Milestones in Kamloops twice in 2 weeks. The first Friday, I went with my husband, we waited 25 minutes to be seated then we were finally seated at a table for 2 with 5 empty , set tables around us which seemed unusual since the waiting room was full. We then sat and waited for someone to acknowledge our presence which actually never happened and after waiting 20 minutes just to have a waiter talk to us, we left and went to another restaurant. Because I love the food at Milestones, I convinced 2 of my kids to go with me this last Friday night (my husband will not come anymore). I made a reservation, we were seated right away and our waitress was excellent, very attentive (until the time to order dessert) and our appetizer and dinner were brought in a timely manner. Unfortunately, the computer system must have failed because towards the end of the meal, I noticed a restaurant full of people, many getting frustrated, some leaving without ordering and almost all the wait staff sitting at 2 big tables near the kitchen manually do their bills. It was highly disorganized. I understand that systems fail, I have worked in many restaurants over the years and this stuff happens. But why would you abandon ALL your customers? Perhaps the 2 most mathematical waiters could have explained to their customers that someone else would take over for them temporarily while they calculate bills and 2, not 8 waiters could sit and calculate the bills while the others explain what is going on, manually write down what each person ordered at their tables, cover the tables of the 2 who are calculating which would have allowed the dining experience to not be so disruptive. We waited 45 minutes to get our dessert (which we finally ordered to go) and to get our bill which we actually calculated before the waitress got to us. 75% of the experience was excellent but I must admit it was extremely frustrating trying to get our dessert and bill so we could actually leave!
We usually really enjoy dining here but this evening was different. The service was very slow and the dish (portobello mushroom chicken) I usually order and enjoy was bland tonight. The appetizer I ordered was the Mediterranean goat cheese platter and the garlic was not roasted enough. It was still hard and was definitely not spreadable. It took a long time to get our bills. Maybe because it was a busy night.
Met friends at Milestones for dinner. It was super busy. Still had great service and attention from the manager to check on our experience. Great food and a great time!
Tried to walk in for dinner on a Monday at 6. It was hectic we were told there is a 20 min wait so we left and made reservations for Wednesday. Upon arrival we walked to the front “host station” where we waited to be acknowledged for about 5 mins. We were apologized to and seated but then sat ready to order for 20+ min. Our waiter asked if we’d been helped apologized again because it was busy. (Which is fine). We sat 40 mins before any food or drinks came. The food was very good but the waiter blamed the chef stating “he’s having a meltdown” for the wait on our food. Once we were ready for the bill we were told it was the hostess’ fault for our waiter being so unorganized. Was not a very well managed staff with poor team skills. Won’t be going back soon. At least not during dinner rush .
