Neel Kamal - Kālundri

My parents went to a wedding for 5 days. So i ordered food from here. From that time i started loving it. Ambiance is good. Food is available at reasonable prices. Family friendly place. They also give candle light dinner for couples. I have tried many dishes. Butter naan with mix veg os good. They have other options too. Dum biryani is also good. Near to panvel railway station. Tomato soup is also good. One of the best in Panvel.

The food here is great, specially the lamb pot biryani is the dish to die for. the staff needs to be more hospitable but that is expected from these type of restaurants. We visit there purely for the taste of the food.

Ambience: Very standard Shetty-run joint of the mid-range category. It is right in front of the station.Food quality: Decent. It used to be very very good up until a few years ago. However, since then it has slid comfortably into above average. Never terrible though. I personally believe that their Indian dishes are better than the Chinese ones at the time of writing this review. At one point, their Chinese food used to be excellent. Price: While it is not a very expensive restaurant per say, the prices are just a little bit over the value-for-money category.Takeaway: It takes about 45 minutes for them to deliver a decent-sized order. They will not offer to replace your food if it turns out problematic. You will have to insist. And even then, it will be done with reluctance.Neelkamal suffers from the 'largest fish in a small pond' syndrome. New Panvel so badly lacks in good quality restaurants that this is a go-to option for most people, even if they know that its quality could get better or has been slipping oh-so-slightly over the years.

Whenever we choose to have lunch or dinner out, the choice is always 'Neel Kamal'. This is because the service, cleanliness, comfort and interiors in Neel Kamal all give a 3 Star feel, and it is, but when you see the menu card, you can't believe you get so nice and excellent service in a normal restaurant rates, they may be some 10-20% higher but surely you will visit it again and again!
