My wife and I were looking to have lunch our first day in L.A. She keeps vegetarian and a restaurant needs to offer options for that. The Tulip Café did that. It is in a unique little street off of 7th street and about a half block long. We looked at menus along the way and the Tulip Café was our choice. My wife had a platter of food with falafel which she said was very good. I had the Chicken Roma which was deliciou... View all feedback.
What Steve Chiang doesn't like about Tulip Cafe:
This place is a hidden gem in the Jewelry District like what the menu says. The food is great if you're feeling for some Mediterranean. I recommend the Meat Combo for you protein eating meatheads. The best part about this place is eating outdoor where it feels like you're somewhere in Europe. View all feedback.
No wonder this place gets very busy during the lunch hours as the food is very tasty and wholesome. From bread to Turkish salad and the rest; everything we ordered was so delicious. Portions are extremely generous and satisfying too. Call me picky but the cons for me are: no ayran (yoghurt drink) is sold no charcoal grill as far as I could see this would have allowed for a smokey flavour incorporated into the meat enhancing the taste tzatziki had mayo in it please stick to yoghurt only Overall, I would highly recommend Tulip Cafe!
Stopped by for a weekday lunch. Service good, food tasty, neat atmosphere in downtown LA. Located on St. Vincent's street off 6th st.
Tulip cafe, located in St Vincent court in the Jewelry district of Los Angeles is a precious asset. Look for the green and white striped awning at the exterior. Chef Kachin is a jovial and warm personality who made us feel most welcome. First we were served with a Mediteranean salad of tomatoes, onions and parsley. Our main course of salmon sitting on top of mussels and clams and cooked in wine, was yummy. The steak was topped with a cream sauce of mushroom and spinach another treat!
Excellent food and large portions. I got the hummus appetizer and the falafel sandwich and it would have been enough for 2.
I used to work around the corner and thank goodness someone told me about this place. It is VERY VERY good!! I very much recommend it and honestly and surprise at the lack of reviews for it. Based on other Zagat ratings, Id put this at an easy 25-26, only pulling points because it is a small operation in a tucked away alley. The food is amazing! A friend of mine from Long Beach and I were having a conversation about where the BEST Persian food was and as we started describing it, we quickly realized we were telling each other about the same place. He described the food and facades on the neighboring businesses, while i was telling him about the parking lot and alley it was in. Funny moment. GO EAT THERE!!!!!
