I like this place but had somewhat a bad experience. Ordered a burger and fries. Told server very well done on the burger. First bite nothing but pink meat. Terrible. Chefs just don't take pride in their work anymore. So then the bill comes. $192. A litte high but ok. I give the server my card tell him it's $150 on the card and gives him an extra $60 In cash to cover the rest. Card statement comes they only charged m... View all feedback.
What paterjo doesn't like about The Manchester:
We ate at the Manchester on a Tuesday night and the food was fairly good but not large portions and very expensive for what we were served. Seems to be popular with the younger crowd. Extremely limited parking and hard to recognize the restaurant as you enter from the back entrance. Service was good but not exceptional. Recommend if you come here use Uber or Lyft. Really loud, the waiters just dropped the dishes behi... View all feedback.
Food and service were a mixed bag of inconsistency. The branzino was excellent. The hamburger was ok, not bad, not good, just ok. Clams were excellent, grilled bread is superb. Table we sat at was drafty.
Clams had an ammonia chlorine taste to them. The salmon was good, but not $33 good. Overall disappointing to be honest. I think if we had avoided the clams and gone with something else it would have been a much better experience. Will probably not be dinning there again though.
If you're blind, deaf and/or a teenager, you probably won't care that The Manchester is just about pitch-black inside with blasting music, making it extremely difficult to see, hear, and talk in a conversation. The exterior of The Manchester is dark, so darkness is a theme of this business. For me, who likes to see and hear, The Manchester is not a place to comfortably stay in for more than a minute, and fleeing from there during a fire or earthquake would likely be highly precarious at best.
Dark and over priced. Great service and staff but an odd obscure attempt at trendy that doesn't feel complete in
This place has really changed since the old Tompkins Square days, but the food, service, and atmosphere are very nice! Give it a try!!
