What Flor Marisol Oscategui Rojas doesn't like about Pho Thai Town:
Do yourself a favor and drive to a better place. The pho came out after a while of waiting even though we were the only ones in there when we ordered. They had added hoisin to the broth which made me wonder if they even had it fresh or made a quick shortcut version. The broth wasn’t hot enough to cook the beef and I had to ask to have it heated up. The sauce they serve you with the shrimp rolls is not the peanut sauce you normally get with rolls but a white mayo based sauce.
Very unique place. Small but cozy. Very respectful staff. Great food. Reasonable prices.
I used to go very often to this place because I really loved their beef pho. They apparently changed the recipe last month OR they ADD water to the finished broth. The broth has become watery and unflavorful. Me and my boyfriend both noticed the big difference in taste and no amount of lime juice could improve the situation. Before the pandemic there was more beef subproducts in pho, but now it's only beef or meat balls. The portions also shrinked in size. I guess that's the strategy to keep afloat with the modern economic climate. I loved the taste very much, but I am afraid I am not coming back after 2 last visits. I do understand making portions smaller, but I don't appreciate diluting the broth with water at all. It's just plain wrong. The place is super tiny : your motor home is larger than that. It's very, very simple and plain inside, but it's ok. Nothing fancy at all, but it's not expected either. The place can get easily and often overcrowded because of that. I don't think it's kids friendly for that reason. No one wants to dine in surrounded by a bunch of youngsters since they are nearly always noisy and overwhelming. If you come there by yourself at a night time, the chances of kids there are very slim. If you stop by around 5-6 p.m. , you can run into a very unpleasant environment. The place is owned and run by a family, so no miracles. They survived the plan-demic , but the recipe hasn't. I hope things would go back to normal.
MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE RESTAURANT OF ALL TIME!!!! so kind!!! so delicious!!! so considerate!!! they always make stuff vegetarian or vegan for me if i ask : ive been going for ten years and am BEYOND GRATEFUL that theyre back!!
I ordered 2 pho, shrimp rolls, egg rolls, and fried rice. The food is really good, and so is their Thai Tea. However, they forgot to include my egg rolls in my bag, and I didn't check it before leaving. Overall, the food tastes great, just can't get over the fact that they missed my egg rolls. It really pisses me off.if they had gotten my order correct, it would be a 5 star review. I ordered 11/06/23
