The beef shawarma at Mona?s kitchen was superb. Probably the best in LA and the closest to authentic Lebanese style shawarma. The meat had crisp but not overcooked and the tahini sauce was great. The wrap hd the proper ingredients for a successful explosion of flavors in your mouth. We want to come back and have a full feast with more than just Shawarma. The best of all is that George who is the owner I think was ext... View all feedback.
What sam aghi doesn't like about Mona's Kitchen Lebanese Food:
Got food here today May/6 and I was very disappointed. Not good food at all tasteless, EXTREMELY greasy and very small portions for what you pay. Box filled with greasy rice and small amount of meat which looks fresh last week. I was concerned as the meat seemed like it had some sort of white and red collaring on it and seemed old I just hope it wasn’t leftover off someone’s plate ? I feel absolutely done and a waste... Best falafel I've had in LA. Super authentic menu atmosphere. Big helpings. Free drink refills. Affordable (all this, which was some of the more expensive stuff drinks for $35ish before tip)
After spending the morning mountain biking I was in the mood for some good old Lebanese food. I Googled the closest one to my area and came upon Mona. I walked in and was greeted by George, a fellow Lebanese, the chef. I ordered foul, a traditional late breakfast dish consisting of boiled Fava beans with a little Garbanzo beans, chopped garlic and olive oil served with warm pita. Since I was really hungry, I ordered a beef kabob plate too. I told George that I wasn 't aware of the place despite driving past the plaza daily. Try the food and maybe you 'll be back he replied in Lebanese, the most charming of all Arabic dialects.Well, try the foul I did and for a moment I felt like I was back in Lebanon at my grandma 's brunch table. It was fresh, authentically aromatic, and amazingly flavorful. The diced tomatoes on top were a beautiful touch contributing to both aesthetic and taste. Thank you George for a most savory Sunday brunch. I most definitely be back. I will give my review of the beef kabob later as I 'm saving it for dinner.
This is a hidden gem in Tarzana. I knew it would be better than average when I saw a clean dining room with two older Lebanese women waiting for to go orders. They won’t put up with bad food! The Shwarma was tasty and not too big which I like. I watched the chef make out dessert to order which was so good. The hot tea with fresh mint was a great ending to a fantastic lunch.
Hands down best middle eastern food in the valley. Kunefe is as good as I’ve had anywhere. And the baklava here, hand rolled, is wonderful. Favorites are the cauliflower, foul, and tawook. Can’t go wrong.
So good! Fried Cauliflower, Tabbouleh Salad, Mediterranean Wings, Pickles, Pita, Hummus, Baklava. Fresh and tasty. Love this casual joint!
