We calked into the cavern for our first visit on a Sunday evening. It was about 3/4 full. We ordered drinks then food. The drinks came out relatively quickly. Then one of our dishes arrived. It seemed like ages before the next dish arrived. Why weren't they served together?Any how long story short Tapas bars are expensive and you don't get much food for your $. The food was ok - not amazing or even original really. W... View all feedback.
Celebrated my fiancée birthday. Great meals and service! Enjoyed everything, ordered fried cheese jalapeños, chicken bacon pate, mushroom caps. Even the specials was nice mushroom ravioli! Will definitely come back again. One of the best meals we had in a while.
During our most recent visit, we enjoyed a nice variety of tapas with our family. We ordered 2-3 servings of 10 tapas each and were impressed with every dish. The service was quick and the wait staff attentive. The fried stuffed jalapenos were a standout, packing a spicy punch that delighted our taste buds. The menu is extensive and caters to even the pickiest of eaters (like myself). We were also impressed with the presentation of the dishes. My top 5 favorites from the menu are the Moroccan lamb meatballs with couscous and garlic yoghurt, Crispy Fremantle sardines, Fried stuffed jalapenos, double crumbed French brie with pear and rocket salad, and Honey panna cotta with poached pear and pashmak. Overall, this restaurant is a fantastic spot to enjoy a meal and drinks. We can't wait to return and highly recommend it to others.
I discovered this restaurant through a friend and visited with a group of 4. The dining style is tapas, so we ordered 2 appetizers, 6 main dishes, and 1 dessert to share. The standout dishes were the gnocchi, soft tacos, truffle fries, fried brie with pear and rocket salad. The crispy spuds, which were a special, were not very crispy and the chorizo was just average. The brownie was also underwhelming. We were tempted by the special milk honey pannacotta for dessert but were too full to try it. The service was excellent and overall, we plan on returning again.
I love the cozy atmosphere at The Cavern. The staff are all friendly and efficient. The wine selection is fantastic, and they even carry my favorite Picardy wine (that alone is reason enough for me to return!). The variety of tapas is great. I've seen some comments mentioning that it's pricey, but I disagree. Tapas is all about gourmet small dishes that are packed with flavor, and that's exactly what The Cavern offers! I appreciated that each dish was served separately, with about a 5-minute interval between them, allowing us to enjoy them while they were still hot. I can't wait to return and try more of their delicious tapas!
Valentine 's Day was made extra special at The Cavern with an amazing set menu of dishes (not normally on the a la carte menu .<br/ <br/ The duck liver parfait was at its best! The salmon and leek tart was to die for the short crust was light and crisp, and the filling was creamy and moreish!<br/ <br/ Next out was one of the best pork buns I have ever tried great fusion of flavours with an Asian twist.<br/ <br/ My wife loved the gnocchi with a generous serving of the seafood sauce. The kitchen was more than accomodating allowing me to have my gnocchi with the a la carte lamb ragu (seafood and I don 't agree .<br/ <br/ To finish the meal we had the most amazing chocolate mousse perfectly complimented with the praline crunch and fresh fig ... yum!<br/ <br/ We were so full by the end great value for $60 per head.<br/ <br/ The 'Father in law ' Shiraz was a perfect compliment with the meal great recommendation by the wait staff, who were attentive and friendly!<br/ <br/ Can 't wait to go back!
