Shawarma King No. 3 - Kalamazoo

Whenever we visit Kalamazoo, we always make a point to stop here! My husband, who is from the Middle East, and I both have a passion for Middle Eastern cuisine and consider ourselves somewhat experts in the field. We've only ever tried the buffet, and as a vegetarian, I'm pleased to say there are plenty of options for me. My husband enjoys the meat dishes, and he's always satisfied with them. They serve the best falafel I've ever had at a restaurant—so light and crispy on the outside, and absolutely delicious. I sampled a bit of everything, except the meat, and everything was fantastic. During my last visit, I even asked them about the type of oil they use because everything tasted so great; I figured it must have something to do with their oil. The buffet is a decent size—not overwhelming, but definitely enough variety. On our most recent visit, the service was excellent; however, during our previous visit, it wasn't as great, as it took a long time to get a drink refill, so I ended up going to get it myself.

Delicious! The chicken shawarma entree is my go-to choice, especially when paired with pita bread. The rice is outstanding too. Occasionally, the chicken can be a bit dry, which is disappointing, but overall this place is fantastic. One entree is more than enough for two meals, thanks to their generous portion sizes, all at very reasonable prices. Their soups are excellent as well. My only suggestion for improvement is to move away from using styrofoam to-go containers. They're flimsy, prone to leaking, and break easily. Additionally, they're harmful to the environment, toxic, and not recyclable. It would be great to see an upgrade to a more sustainable option!

I hereby declare the Westnedge Shawarma King the undisputed KING of all Shawarma 's! Many have imitated and many have failed. No other locations on the west side of Michigan can compare to the quality of both food and customer service. I frequent Shawarma King for the lunch time buffet and have never once been disappointed. I often refer to this location as a hidden gem within Kalamazoo. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The buffet is impeccably cleaned and maintained. The food offering is diverse, authentic and incredibly flavorful! I can not say enough good things about this restaurant and the staff the make it such a treat to dine at. I will be a life long customer and their biggest fan!

This is the first time my husband and I tried Shawarma King. The staff was friendly and friendly. The waitress we had was very attentive, like the one she took. The food at the hot bar and salad bar was delicious. I had the beef Shawarma, biryani rice, okra, and green beans along with some baba ghanoush and it was all well seasoned and tasteful. My husband had the chicken Shawarma and lamb meatballs and he loved them. All I know is that, we will definitely go back because everything we had was amazing. This buffet never disappoints. Great place to try a lot of Lebanese Mediterranean food for a low price and discover something new. From vegetarian to carnivore, or in between, there is something delicious to feast. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. I have eaten several times here and can't wait until I'm over again when I'm in Kalamazoo.
