What HandAE doesn't like about El Monasterio:
We stopped at Jumilla on our way to our vineyard tour. It was market day and fearing a rush on restaurants we asked the tourist information office for a recommendation. We were the second table of two people in the restaurant which didn't bode well. The waiter gave us the menu and left us. We had to ask for the menu del dia. The menu del dia was average but it came with a very nice glass of house wine. We would visit... View all feedback.
Espectacular.
No where open early evening and as we are aware the Spanish eat much later than the English. So walked around trying to find some food and then we found the best tapis and service in a 3 week tour of 3003 miles. A large variety of which we tried all of them then struggled to walk back to the hotel. It was nice to see there were NO flies in the bar or on the food also all of the food was refrigerated and covered.
Found this restaurant whilst looking for another! So glad we did. Service was excellent from the Spanish waitress and the Chef himself came out to speak to us. We had a selection of tapas one of which was aubergines in honey amazing taste. For main course I had the steak and my friends had the pork served with potatoes (not chips). It was delicious and very filling. The Chef came out to ask if we wanted dessert and when we asked for a menu he said I AM the menu! and proceeded to tell us what was on offer that evening. We chose the chocolate crepe with ice cream....yummy. Together with a bottle of the local Juan Gil red wine the whole meal for the three of us was less than 70 euros. Excellent food and excellent value. Highly recommend
Good selection on menu Del día, with excellent house wine. Attentive service in pleasant surroundings.
