We had a super dinner at Hopera. I speak French but my husband doesn’t so they sent over a friendly, English speaking server. He was very attentive and pleasant. They have a big wood fired stove for making pizza, which looked delicious, but I got the duck poutine and my husband got a burger. Both were excellent! There was a good selection of beers brewed on site and we sampled two. It was happy hour, so discounted pr... View all feedback.
What Giacomo Bonetti doesn't like about Microbrasserie Hopera:
I went there last week, ordered a Vegetarian plate but when I received it there was actual meat. I told the waiter who was rude about it and refused to replace it. Bad experience. The drinks were okay. View all feedback.
Stopped here on the way to the Saguenay Fjords National Park. Very good food, especially for bar food. These people take their food prep seriously. Note to Anglophones they don't speak English here. Hey, that's ok, it's their country, but keep that in mind going in. I've found that once you get out of Montreal and Quebec City, most people speak French only. I was fortunate that my wife speaks some French. We ordered the mac n cheese, duck poutine, sausage platter, and Caesar salad. The mac n cheese was quite good. The sausage platter was very tasty, but petite for the price in my opinion. The duck poutine had an awesome flavor, but the fries were a little overdone. The Caesar salad had a very mild flavor, perhaps too mild, but I like my Caesar salad to be strong. It might just be my taste. I also tried one of their in house beers. I'd definitely recommend trying one if you visit. Overall, the food here is tres bien. Bar food in the US usually consists of fried everything, so this was a nice contrast. If you're in Saguenay, it is certainly worth a stop.
Some reviewers mentioned English language difficulties here, but we absolutely found that NOT to be the case. Staff was English fluent and functional (not that they necessarily need to be), and food/beer selection was fantastique! Extremely friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend this place, especially the duck poutine and American Jesus Ale! Tres magnifique!!
As a beer lover, there was no way I could stay in Jonquière without checking out this microbrewery/pizza place. The competition regarding beer is ferocious in the Saguenay region and even more so in Jonquière. What with all the microbreweries/brewpubs/bars, my expectations were high.It was a beautiful day and the place was packed to the rafters. Their outside terrace is relatively small and was full. Even inside, the only spot I could get was at the bar. Which wasn't that bad, as I could discuss their various beers with the bartender.I went for the beer sampler option, which allows you to select 6 different beers for a set price. It was more expensive than elsewhere in Saguenay/Lac St-Jean, but all the beers were good. So no complaint in that regard. The pizza was tasty, but too small for the price you pay. Even with a salad as a starter, I was still hungry when I was done. The service is casual and friendly. But packed as the place was, it took a long time for the pizza to reach me. So don't go there is you are in a hurry and want to eat.All in all, though the beers were nice and the food good, there's no denying that it's more expensive than the competition. For no apparent reason.Still, a "must" for beer lovers visiting Jonquière!
'Hopera' is a great place to go for a beer or toi eat a delicious pizza. Nothing deep fried, can't say it's a healthy eating destination, but probably more healthy than all the other restaurants or micro breweries around!Beer is excellent, I loved their IPA! A must go in Jonquiere.
A true taste of friendly local restaurant! Pizza is simply oustanding and beer is just a good! A must try
