The Phoenix Tavern - Johnstown

This is a traditional tavern located in the west end. They serve delicious homemade food, and their chicken balls are a must-try for anyone in the Johnstown area. Be sure to check out my pictures for a full description of the chicken ball.

I absolutely adore their Chicken Balls! Whenever I eat there, I always end up too full for dessert, so I take their gob cake to go. You must give it a try. Today, I picked up a banana cake.

I absolutely love dining at this restaurant. They serve the best wings - crispy and flavorful. Their salads are also amazing. You won't be disappointed with anything on their menu. The customer service is fantastic, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. This place is a great spot to eat. As someone from New York, I can confidently say that this is one of my favorite restaurants in Johnstown, PA.

I found this tavern based on Google reviews while traveling through the area. Glad we stopped. My husband loves the chicken balls at Thunder in the Valley but we didn't realize that this is the restaurant that makes them. I had a bunless loaded bacon double cheeseburger very good. They had a good selection of entrees and sandwiches. The servers were very friendly and kept our iced tea glasses filled and the prices were good. We'll definitely return.

This is a lovely spot to grab a meal, with a welcoming staff who make you feel right at home. We stopped by on our way back from the city for a delicious lunch.
