That history shaped us. It taught us to say: Never again. Not just for Jews. Not just for Europe. But for any people, anywhere. And that’s why I can’t stay silent when I see what is happening to Palestinians — the bombings, the sieges, the expulsions, the mass killings. I see civilians being dehumanized. Children buried under rubble. Families wiped out. I don’t say this lightly: What I see reminds me of what the Nazis did. Not in scale — not in exact form — but in the logic. In the stripping of humanity. In the belief that an entire group of people is dangerous, lesser, expendable. Surely that’s not what “Never Again” was meant to protect. You have the right to live in peace. So do they. You have the right to mourn your dead. So do they. You have the right to defend yourself. But not by destroying whole neighborhoods, cutting off food and water, or justifying the deaths of children. I know it’s complex. I know there’s fear and pain. But if we let our past justify cruelty in the present, we betray the very history we claim to honor. I say this not out of hatred, but out of deep grief. Because I believe you are capable of more. Because I believe in your humanity. Please. Don’t be what you once needed protection from.
