Classic Jersey Italian spot. Feels like a scene out of Goodfellas. Food is very good. Service is great they really hustle. Looks like it in someone’s home. Interior alone is worth visit. View all feedback.
What ANNE ROSS doesn't like about Laico's:
The food was ok! My Nephew and his friend Ordered raviolis and they both winded up getting lobster raviolis . They both had one ravioli my nephews friend is Severely allergic to shellfish. The waitress never asked them whether they wanted cheese or lobster. They gave them whatever they wanted the poor boy winded up in the hospital because of his reaction my nephew was so sick. read moreThe Italian food is delicious, authentic, and flavorable. My only issue was they don't give refills on soft drinks from the machine. I find that ridiculous but times have changed I guess. I was told by waiter we don't do that here.
read moreI first ate at Laico 's in 1988. I havent been there in the past twenty years so we were overdue. The changes, not so good.If you know Laico 's you know it 's tight inside, but everyone there understands that so there 's no attitudes with accidentally bumps, etc. We 're all in this together, so very much a chill group. However, you 're never going to say this is elegant and roomy as a dining room. You will be waited on professionally and warmly, and you will have no problems with service. Top notch front of the house. However, the food missed the mark, in multiple places. The salad was boring, and despite the onions lacked any outstanding flavor. Counterpoint: the bread was terrific as always. The fried spicy calamari was soft and mushy. Apparetnly this is due to the cooking method, which I urge them to abandon. Also, lots of tentacles so if you are Team Tentacle you are good to go, otherwise half your plate will get wasted. The scallop and spinach risotto missed the mark in every way. Scallops half cooked we could see sear marks on only one side and the other side was definitely uncooked and the risotto was not creamy, or seasoned. Chef Ramsey would 've lost his cool if he tasted this. The veal saltimboca was better veal perfect but the sauce was not really doing its job, and pairing it with pasta was (my) mistake, as this needed a starch and vegetable.Drinks were reasonable and as I mentioned, service was excellent. The total bill was more than reasonable, a near bargain actually in this current economic climate of inflation . I give Laico 's a lot of credit for not jumping on this artificial scarcity to make extra dollars... but pay cash because they did adopt that obnoxious pass on the credit card fee to their customers.I will have to return again and try my old favorites, but alas Mozarella en Carozza has left the menu. Hopefully the next trip will restore our faith. Parking: If you don 't parallel park eat at the mall, this is not for you.
read moreI thought I found a cute family friendly restaurant to go to with my mom, however that was not the case. The energy was off the moment we walked in. The waiter was not welcoming and didn’t crack a smile at us once but he sure did smile at every other table. We finally get our food and the table next to us is staring straight at us while we were eating, the lady next to us had the audacity to place her head in her hand and stare at us the whole time we were eating. We ordered the calamari it tasted as if it came straight from the freezer it was not fresh and it was soggy, we got baked artichokes that were also super soggy basically sitting in water. They have complimentary salad and bread or so we thought was complimentary because we didn’t order it and it was brought to us and every other table but they charged us for the salad. If I’m being honest the only good tasting thing there was the salad at least that was fresh. We then ask for the bill bc after that we were fed up with the service and the food so we pay and leave. We then get in our car and leave to which the Valet then demands a tip from even though we brought our car in and took our car out. Do not go here if you’re NOT Italian.
