What V V doesn't like about Barge Inn Restaurant:
No option for no star, Terrible service , no real veg options , food was bland , orders took ten times longer than anyone else , even to get bread or a drink was an issue . Would not recommendVegetarian options: No options for a typical Italian test View all feedback.
Went recently for dinner. We arrived at 7:30. They honored our reservation and it started well enough. My daughter and I ordered chicken and my boyfriend veal. After 1 hour our food arrived. Mine was completely unappetizing, two rubbery, overly salted chicken breasts swimming in way too much unappetizing brown sauce with no greens and very little pasta. My daughter's was about the same. They finally brought us water at our request, but by then we just wanted out. Nothing could stand up to the levels of salt they use at this place.
It's really freaking good old school Italian.The bread was great, calamari was cooked perfectly, my wife's seafood fra diavolo was amazing, and the lasagna exactly what you'd hope for.It will not be cheap, but it will be made fresh, it will come with friendly service and it feels like you stepped back in time a bit.

I made reservations tonight for 6:30pm for 4 of us . We walked in and there was only 1 table sat . Whoever was the waitress tonight points to a table by the door and goes “ sit here “ It was very uninviting! My mom gets cold easily so we didn’t want to sit near the door so we asked to sit at the 6 top table in the back . The waitress goes to find I guess the owner an older gentleman and he goes no that’s for 6 and tried to sit us at a 3 top made into 4 right next to the bathroom . Meanwhile you can smell the toilets at the table . Bad Dream Barge it was tonight , never tasted the food and will not be returning. The food could be the best in the world but if you don’t Care about your customers and their experience it’s not worth it ! .I saw a similar review below 4 years ago about the smell and service seems like nothing has changed!
This place is awesome! Not only was the music great but the lobster Fra Diavolo was out of this world! Best Italian in Jersey City!
