This is a delightful restaurant in a very sleek, modern space with tons of outdoor touches that tie into the parent brand Snow Peak. What Ahmed Zuhairy doesn't like about Takibi:
Had a beautiful date night here. Great ambiance. Nice service. Food fell a bit flat for me. Sashimi was good, but there was a lack of unique characteristics (and salt) in the other dishes. Highlight that I really enjoyed was the blackened cod! Some of the other dishes had potential but missed the mark, like the shaved onion salad and beef tataki. Overall a safe option but nothing outstanding. View all feedback.
A treat, a feast, bring only those that would really appreciate and enjoy a unique ambiance and simple, but impactful, flavors. The menu is quite simple, doesn?t contain a lot of options. I went for dishes I found to be more unique; while delicious, the mains tend to be pricier than I expected for the portion and flavors (though it?s still delicious). The best part was dessert! I implore you to try their desserts; mine was the perfect texture between flan and pancotta whichI would eat again and again and again. You?ll want to make reservations in advance or arrive at opening, since it fills up quickly! Outdoor and indoor are outfitted by the brand, so it?s a great way to understand the company?s branding aswell. Service was quite lackluster for the space, not rude but not attentive. Overall, I?d return for that dessert, no doubt.

Nice, clean ambience with interesting/extensive list of Japanese inspired cocktails and attentive service. Definitely more of a tapas style share plate restaurant so don?t expect huge portions. However, everything we had was delicious. Would recommend the karaage, grilled saba/mackerel and pork kakuni. 20% gratuity is included in the bill which seems to be the trend for a lot of Portland restaurants.
I lived in Japan for four years and love Japanese food and attention to detail. Our party of six was delighted by the food, service, and atmosphere at Takibi. The restaurant is literally connected to Snow-Peak 's hip retail glamping store and uses its modern cutlery and bowls for serving the food. We loved the chicken; sea bass; sweet potatoes, lamb, beef and many other dishes--20 in all. The cocktails are expertly made and very well balanced and delicious too. The service at three visits has always been top notch--knowledgeable, relaxed and friendly. The atmosphere-cedar beams, comfortable chairs and booths, and noise-protection panels, makes for a wonderful dining space. Thanks so much to the staff and kitchen for such a great dining experience. Well done!
