Contribute Feedback What Matt I likes about Kashiwagi:
Totally worth finding the corner it's tucked into. Real family vibe, super friendly staff. They threw in some random roll for and now we talk about the food. Excellent fresh cuts of unagi. Real crab cali roll was the best I've had in a while. The rando bonus roll had a bit of cream cheese in it which I'm usually not a fan of at all, but not being over-stuffed or over-riced on the roll it was great. View all feedback.
What jenna roberts doesn't like about Kashiwagi:
I came here for the other reviews and was disappointed. I rarely leave low stars, but this was not great sushi. The specialty rolls were large and filling, but their flavor was bland and the fish was not tasty. The service was friendly enough. The location is a plaid pantry parking lot vibe, and the interior of the restaurant wasn't a step up from that. The sushi quality sadly matched that. View all feedback.
I ve never actually been there but from the picture I can tell you you won't regret going there. The food is definitely there with the electric atmosphere I am sure makes you feel like the waves are crashing into themselves as you reminisce about how you somehow got an orca to do aquarium tricks . Then like a dick you put the orca in prison in a cruel underestimate of the size of prison cell a grown orca needs in San Diego.
Grabbed a chiraishi don from here. The rice was too vinegary and the fish was not fresh. The fish actually still felt frozen and not thawed well enough. I don't think this place is up to standard for Japanese cuisine.
This will be the most glowing review I've ever written. We happened on this place by accident. Had to eat, lost in Portland's traffic, just parked and walked to the closest place to eat. It was closed. Saw Kashi Wagi (KashiWagi? . They'd just closed but the owners were so kind, they took pity on us and fed us anyway. So sweet of them! Look, this is a hole in the wall joint. Like what you'd find in a back alley in Tokyo (spent a month there, loved the back alleys ; but with Portland's trash and noise instead of Tokyo's immaculateness and NOISE. We had five different dishes. My wife spent 3 weeks in Japan. We both knew what to order. It doesn't get better than properly made raw fish, rice, nori and flavors. The Sushi they made was as good as it gets in the U.S., where all fish has to be frozen because of parasites. The freezing softens the fish and tempers the flavor. Still love it. The cuts were perfection. The fish was chosen by someone with an eagle's eye. The rice was right. Flavors were worthy of the best back alley places in Japan. Eat here! No matter bad the traffic, just eat here.
World best sushi!! Also the tempura and agedashi tofu is really good
