Came from out of town for a birthday party. The crowd was diverse and friendly. Service was fast and friendly. Food was freaking amazing! Chicken and Waffles on point! What Likes Cookies doesn't like about Canary:
Unrealized potential. Got rid of the terrible bluish tinted lighting that caused headaches. Great. But then the food quality dropped hard and the ‘grumpy’ bartender that another reviewer mentioned makes it just not worth going there. Eye rolls, loud sighs, dropping food silverware. The food was amazingly delicious! Highly recommend the Canary Burger with Waffle Fries.
Oh my good golly, the food is so good! Brian is a master chef. Best ribs and meat in Portland. Also the bartender, Ryan is so accommodating and kind, it’s like we’ve been friends forever. I love The Canary!!!
Got excited when I saw the Chick ‘N Waffle ALL DAY sign — it’s a lie. The chef went home early. I will update my rating once I get a taste of it. LOL
What a gem of a local bar! I'm sad it took me so long to discover it! Service is excellent, burger is divine. Beet salad was fresh and delicious! Goes to show that sometimes just making simple food with fresh ingredients and a lot of love is all you really need! Can't wait to come back and support this neighborhood establishment.
