Never disappoints! Love their napa cold slaw salad that comes with the buns, always crunchy and yummy. Miso pork belly bun is so freakin good I keep coming back for MORE! The bun itself is so fluffy and most likely the best steamed bun you can find in town! View all feedback.
What Marissa Louise doesn't like about Breaking Buns Food Cart:
The bun texture was good, but the fillers were okay. The Szechuan chicken tasted like they used black pepper instead of Szechuan pepper. It lacked a lot of the umami, fragrance and complexity I'm used to in Szechuan food. The tofu had a nice fry but the seasoning was lacking. The shrimp was cooked perfectly! That was my favorite bun. I didn’t have high expectations for a food cart located on a relatively quiet street, but I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was! The service was quick and friendly. Even in the evening, the outdoor atmosphere is lovely and peaceful for dining. One downside is that the fruit trees nearby sometimes drop fruit, which can create an unpleasant smell if not cleaned up. However, this shouldn’t be a concern if you’re just getting takeout. I definitely recommend checking out this food cart. They offer a great variety of flavors, and the prices are very reasonable, especially for such tasty food!
I visited Breaking Buns Food Cart for lunch with a few friends, and I must say, I really enjoyed it. My top picks were the spicy shrimp bao and the pork belly bao. I also ordered a side of jasmine rice, which was the best I've ever tasted. The Korean fire sauce on the side was absolutely delicious. Both the owner and the cashier were friendly and had a great attitude. The food was made fresh right after we ordered, and it was a satisfying and healthy meal. Plus, the prices were quite reasonable.
The flavors were good, but nothing really stood out. I found it hard to justify paying $5 for such small bao buns. I suppose food trucks now charge more than traditional restaurants, even though you have to order while standing, bus your own table, and contend with bugs or rain.
The Bao buns here are excellent—fresh and satisfying. On pleasant days, you can enjoy sitting outside. There's also a great vegetable stand right next door.
We were so happy to finally visit this restaurant! The service was delightful, and the food was exceptional. We didn't realize just how filling the baos would be. Each of us ordered three baos, and we shared a plate of yakisoba noodles. The baos also came with a generous serving of coleslaw, leaving us completely stuffed. Our favorite baos were the pork miso, followed closely by the beef. The chicken baos were good too, but they had a much milder, cleaner taste compared to the others. The noodles were delicious as well. My only issue was that there was quite a bit of cilantro throughout the dishes, which I’m not particularly fond of, but I forgot to ask for my meals without it. We'll definitely be coming back!
