Miyajima Island with its splendid Itsukushima shrine is a place that attracts tourists from all over the world, but also from Japan. That's why, especially during peak times and the oyster season between April and October, it becomes a haven for street food. Along the souvenir shops street that connects the port and the Itsukushima Shrine, there are many places offering oysters on the half shell with butter or various seasonings, even chili! But also fish cookies, gyuman meat rolls, desserts, and much more! The suggestion is to try many things: not all of them may be as good as the oysters, but you will surely have a lot of fun!
Everything was delicious, their traditional leaf-shaped pastries from that region are the best I have ever tried. Besides, in the hotels they gave you those pastries to have with tea. The oysters were also delicious.
