This place is a fantastic spot for a date or a night out with friends. I visited and enjoyed the three-course meal, which started with dinner and ended with dessert. What Sarah Trenalone doesn't like about Lark:
The building is adorable, and the staff are really friendly, but the portion sizes of the meals were quite small and pricey, and unfortunately, they weren't that impressive. We ordered the crab cakes, which were a special I was told would be a large portion, and the risotto. The crab cakes were tasty, but there just wasn’t enough food to constitute a full entrée—I left feeling very hungry. As for the risotto, it didn... View all feedback.

I've had several meals at this restaurant, and they rank among the best in the Northern Illinois and Wisconsin region. The cocktails are intriguing yet approachable, making them easy to enjoy. The food is expertly prepared and consistently incorporates fresh, seasonal ingredients. It's a must-try. Don’t overlook this gem!
This is the one standout restaurant in Janesville. Despite the town's limited dining scene, Lark is an absolute delight that consistently exceeds expectations. It would be a treasure in any city fortunate enough to have it. The menu, though small, is expertly curated and features a monthly prix fixe option. Diners will easily find something to satisfy their cravings, whether they’re in the mood for red meat, something vegetarian, a comforting dish, or something lighter. Many of the ingredients are sourced locally, adding a special touch to the food. The decor is understated yet inviting, and both the owners and staff are warm and full of surprises. With only about a dozen tables, it's wise to make a reservation for the weekend!
What a delightful surprise! The atmosphere is charming and the window seating is quite cozy. The staff are incredibly friendly, and there are some fantastic specials on the menu. I couldn't believe they have kimchi in their mac and cheese—what a unique twist! Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I look forward to visiting again.
A hidden gem in the heart of Janesville, this restaurant is the ideal spot for a quiet, romantic dinner with my husband. The waitstaff is exceptional—attentive, well-groomed, and courteous, providing prompt service. The low-lit ambiance and elegant décor create a pleasing atmosphere, and we particularly enjoyed the birdcage light fixtures that complemented the theme beautifully. The appetizers, entrées, and cocktails far exceeded our expectations. We tried the popular “hot chicken” entrée, which was incredibly flavorful and something we would absolutely order again. The bar offers a sophisticated selection, including seasonal cocktails. If you're searching for a high-end dining experience outside of Madison, this is the place to be—settle in and enjoy!
