Another delivery review... I really wanted some brisket and try a new place, new place to me that is. What Tiffy D doesn't like about Monroe's Smokehouse B-q:
The food was mediocre at best. The mac and cheese was bland, potato salad...I dont even think was potato salad. It resembled boiled potato with a white sauce on it, not your typical potato salad. Both the Mac and cheese and potatoes in sauce were lacking flavor. The nachos were blah, the pulled pork was great that was on top of the nachos but the canned cheese sauce left much to be desired. I really miss this place. Where should I go now? Is there anywhere nearby that you all particularly recommend for brisket?
This is another delivery review! I had a craving for brisket and wanted to try a new restaurant—well, new to me. My usual spot just didn’t seem appealing; I was looking for something quick and affordable. That’s when I discovered Monroe's. I almost ordered the smoked wings, but decided they’d be too messy for work. Instead, I opted for a small beef brisket meal, which came with a side of tomato cucumber salad and baked beans. The food arrived at my workplace in no time, and I couldn’t wait to dig in. The brisket was absolutely delicious; I already wish I had gone for the larger portion! The sides were great as well, and I especially enjoyed the baked beans, which were perfectly sweet for my taste. This place did not disappoint, and I will definitely be back for more!
The food was only average at best. The mac and cheese lacked flavor, and the potato salad was unrecognizable—it was more like boiled potatoes topped with a bland white sauce, far from what you would expect from traditional potato salad. Both the mac and cheese and the potatoes were quite tasteless. The nachos were underwhelming as well; the pulled pork on top was delicious, but the canned cheese sauce was disappointing. Our waitress was also just okay. On a positive note, the ribs were tasty, but unfortunately, they weren't good enough to make us want to return. We won't be coming back.
This location was fully decorated from top to bottom for the holidays. I needed a fast quality lunch and having been to the original location on the Westside, I knew to have high expectations. Monroe's did not disappoint. After studying the menu, I finally decided on the Burnt ends sandwich with a side of collards. I'm here to tell you it really hit the spot. The burnt ends were full of flavor and tender with just the right amount of smoke. The collards were tasty and obviously made with love. Service was fast and friendly with the southern hospitality you'd expect. Eat here soon and eat here often.
This might look like a quick spot for lunch or dinner but it is not. I would not recommend this place if you like to get in and out in an hour or less. There were only 4 tables and it took over 25 min for the food to arrive. If we come back I'll be taking it to go.
