I really enjoyed the food—it exceeded my expectations for mall Chinese cuisine based on my previous experiences. The portions were generous, the prices reasonable, and the service was friendly.
I recently visited the Avenues Mall and opted for a late lunch. Out of eight options, we decided to try Mandarin Express and shared a three-selection lunch. I chose mixed vegetables with noodles, orange chicken, shrimp (with a $1.29 upcharge), and beef with broccoli, along with a small egg roll. Overall, it was okay, but the chicken and shrimp were a bit too sweet and sticky, and the beef was somewhat tough. The service was good, but overall, it was just average—not something I'd go out of my way to revisit.
I visited Mandarin Express on Friday, October 2nd. It was my first trip to the mall since the COVID-19 outbreak. The food was delicious, and everything was clean and tidy. The food court was well organized, providing ample space between guests. I'm really glad I went!
I went to dinner with my family and sat down in the food court. After opening my food and starting to eat, I discovered a roach in my rice! The staff was unwilling to give me a refund, instead offering me another plate. Honestly, at that point, why would I want another plate of food that might come with a side of roaches?
