Fried pork chop, macaroni and cheese, and the best collard greens I've ever put in my mouth! One of the most delicious meals I've ever had. The folks are nice as can be, too.
Authentically Southern cooking from the ham hocks and pig ear sandwiches to the smothered fried chicken with yams and greens that I ate. Recognized as a James Beard Classic with good reason. All the food was delicious. This is a clean and well run (yes, funky) place at the heart of Jackson's foodie scene. Must-go.
Two words: pork chop. First visit to Bullys and will absolutely be back. soul food heaven... had the fried pork chop huge, fried just right, and delicious. macaroni/cheese was great, fried green tomatoes were good, collard greens have some heat to them and they are wonderful. food is served on old school lunch trays and the atmosphere is down home no pretense come as you are. will try the oxtail, one of my favs, next time. my co diners said it was scrumptious.<br/ <br/ place is packed during the week with downtown businessmen who have obviously discovered this Jackson gem...
Great togo spot. Great food but this place is small as hell
Tyrone, Greta, and the entire staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, and the food was outstanding! We sampled a variety of dishes (the oxtail and catfish were my favorites, but everything was fantastic), and Greta even offered us a taste of some other delicious sides. If only I didn’t live 15,000 miles away!
